Nell - Sensible (and Smart) Style

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Nov 1, 2016 12:00:00 AM

Nell is a veteran Goodwill shopper, as well as a guy who likes to create his own unique style. When shopping, Nell takes into consideration all the items that could work to create a masculine layered look. We put together this awesome ensemble using some of Nell’s Goodwill finds, in addition to a few pieces that I found. We started with jeans from Artful Dodger, a white plaid button down from Orvis and a suede Banana Republic vest—ALL from Nell’s own wardrobe. We added a gray wool blazer from Nautica, and some slip-on premium leather loafers from Johnston & Murphy. As you can see, dressing well doesn’t have to mean dressing up! Men’s clothing are some of the best bargains you can find at any of our Goodwill store!

Rose - Classic Black and White

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Nov 1, 2016 12:00:00 AM

As a long-time Goodwill shopper, Rose sees potential in every rack in the store! With her outfit this month we go back to classic black and white. Contrary to popular opinion, white jeans can be worn year-round as long as you add more season appropriate pieces. Here we started with jeans that Rose already owned then added an asymmetrical-design black-and-white knit top from Anne Klein, and a black-and-white blazer from H & M. The cool thing here is even though they don’t typically match, they actually do! The proportion of the top works with the shorter jacket perfectly! To finish the look we used a necklace and earrings set from Goodwill and Rose’s black platform shoes. She looks lovely, vibrant, and work appropriate. Tip: This is a great way to transition traditionally summer pieces into fall and winter.

Dale - Tailored and Terrific

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Oct 1, 2016 12:00:00 AM

Dale is tailored and terrific in this fantastic two piece suit. This is a great find at Goodwill for the business-minded individual. When I discovered this suit, I knew we had to feature it because it illustrates exactly what type of stylish looks you can get for so much less than other retailers. This is a classic black-and-white Tahari brand suit that fits Dale like a glove, and it cost only $14.99! The crisp white trim really makes the tailoring stand out. All we added here were some gold-and-white nautical earrings for $1.99 and a gold-and-blue bracelet for $1.99, as well as our model’s own sandals to complete the look! With her upswept hair she’s ready to take on the world with this look (or at least run a business meeting)!

Chris - Fall Layered Look

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Oct 1, 2016 12:00:00 AM

Chris is a cool young guy who’s illustrating a monochromatic-layered look for early fall. It always starts with jeans—and these dark blue denim skinnys from Levi’s were just $9.99. We added a blue-knit Merona brand sweater for $4.99, a fashion-forward scarf in a lighter tone of blue for $1.99, and topped it all off with a navy blue cotton blazer from Old Navy for $5.99. Whenever you want to stand out in a fashionable way, going with one tone (monochromatic) is definitely the way to go! Chris is also sporting some great monk strap shoes in rich brown, as well as a vintage Aramis weekender bag that was at our stores for $12.99. Doesn’t he look like he just stepped out of a magazine?

Robert - Casually Dressed-Up

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Sep 1, 2016 3:59:22 PM

Robert is a great dad, as well as a business person. He is fun and free-wheeling and he shows it in this casually dressed up look we put together just for him. It illustrates how easy a dress shirt can make an otherwise ho-hum look become a little more special. On those “business casual days” this could work very well! We used a blue pinstriped Arrow dress shirt that was $4.99, and then paired it with some cool khaki pants by Regal Wear for $7.99. The classically preppy tie with multiple diagonal stripes is from Land’s End and, like all of our ties at Goodwill it was a real steal for $2.99! (If you, or your guy, needs a necktie, our stores are the place to go!) For a little more formality, Robert can also put on this fashionable Calvin Klein coat done in black, gray, and white stripes ($6.99). Robert’s wristwatch and white tennis shoes (from his own wardrobe) complete this hip, yet totally professional look!

Ayanna - Contemporary Look for Back-to-School

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Sep 1, 2016 3:44:30 PM

Ayanna is Robert’s daughter, and of course she shares his zest for life! We did a contemporary layered school look for her utilizing some great back-to-school staples from Goodwill! Every girl needs some dark denim-like leggings to anchor her day-to-day styles, and the ones pictured here are from Circo and cost only $3.99. A graphic t-shirt (or ten), should also be on your back-to-school list. Paired with the leggings it adds that element of fun that kids love! This one is from Mudd was just $2.99. My favorite piece in this ensemble is the motorcycle-inspired sweater jacket in bright orange from One Girl Wonder, and best of all it was only $6.99! Each piece could be worn with other items to create multiple wardrobe options for Ayanna!

Charley - Colorful & Fun

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Aug 1, 2016 4:02:54 PM

Charley is ready to (reluctantly) head back to school in style! While the weather is still nice some girls prefer to wear a skirt like this one from Gymboree with multi-colored polka dots on it that I found for $3.99! It just makes the idea of hitting the books a little more fun! We added that school-year staple a t-shirt in red from Justice that was just $2.99. Keeping our colorful and fun theme going, we added the essential school accessory, a backpack that was at our store for $4.99. Charley’s own ballet flats (another nice staple for all young ladies) to completed our casually cool back-to-school look!

Kennedy - Cute & Practical

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Aug 1, 2016 3:55:48 PM

Kennedy is all about the layering in this cute and practical school ensemble. Make sure to look at Goodwill for basics like the long-sleeved t-shirt from Old Navy ($3.99) worn under that school essential for boys (as well as girls), a denim shirt also Old Navy brand ($3.99). My favorite here are the floral print leggings, which are suitable for wear year round, whether alone as a bottom here, or under a dress or tunic sweater later on in the winter! We also added in the polka dot backpack in multi-colored dots that was a stylish bargain at $4.99. She’s ready to go to the head of the class in this adorable look!

Jason - Crisp, Cool and Stylish

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Jul 1, 2016 12:00:00 AM

Jason, our Amazing Looks Model Contest winner for 2015, looks summer-party ready with a twist! We’ve paired his casual upscale look with some serious dress shoes! I wanted to show you that a great pair of men’s dress shoes is never something to pass up at Goodwill! Just because you don’t wear a suit doesn’t mean you can’t pull off the look seen here. Our Fortune from Liberty shoes were $12.99. The shirt is a short-sleeved button down summer classic in blue and white ($2.99) and the pants were another great menswear find—Calvin Klein cotton chinos ($9.99) also in gray (like the awesome shoes). Jason purchased the belt at Goodwill prior to our photo shoot. Crisp, cool, stylish and put together is how we would describe this summer look!

Anaya - Garden Party Ready

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Jul 1, 2016 12:00:00 AM

Anaya is a garden party stunner ready for a close up in this mint green chiffon burnout (design) dress from Cherokee. It was just $3.99! Dresses are a great buy at Goodwill, because they literally are the outfit! You should always check out the dress rack first before you look anywhere else in the store! Just for fun we used a lovely floral headband that has become a DIY favorite from a previous blog (click the link below to find out how you can make your own).  Anaya is ready for church, a summer wedding party, or anything that requires a special look! Her own silver flats add just the right touch of metallic to the overall look, and make it age appropriate as well. Now where else could you put together an outfit this pretty for under say, $10.00?
