Makeena - Rock Star Sass

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Mar 1, 2014 12:00:00 AM

Our model Makeena was the winner of our Amazing Looks Model Search last year. In this month’s look we did one of my favorite things, a layered look using multiple pieces. Makeena herself brought some slim fitting jeans of her own to the photo shoot. We started our layering then, from the bottom up using these as a nice neutral base to work off of. The cordovan brown boots add some flair without too much fuss, and they have some nice classic details. I like a slouchy rounded toe boot like this because it’s tough but chic! Animal prints always add a real wow factor to any outfit. So we went for it in a big way with this black and white leopard print mock turtle. Its slim fit and the slight stretch make it skim the body without being too tight. A great foundation piece for wearing under a very fitted jacket like the one she has on. Makeena's own cropped jacket had a military vibe and just enough detail with the buttons to help tame the noisy graphic print. A fantastically large statement ring, fleur des lis shaped earrings and a cute leopard turban make this cool and totally fun outfit that sort of reminds me of Gwen Stefani doesn’t it? And there you have it! As we nudge slowly towards spring, remember this good illustration of how to stand out in a crowd with some laid-back rock star sass!

Devion - The Geek Chic Look

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Mar 1, 2014 12:00:00 AM

Dapper model Devion reveals the mechanics of how to pull off going for the geek chic look!  The classic Ivy League uniform gets a little color and pattern for spring. The celadon green Express button down shirt is the perfect foil for a short and wide totally awesome vintage Halston tie. By adding straight leg dark wash jeans in lieu of dress pants, the look goes more grad student out on a date. A short black Chaps trench coat is a crisp counterpoint to the brightness and dissimilarity of the tie and shirt. Devion's black hiking boots are a playful touch, and a simple black leather belt, some nice vintage looking attitude glasses, and you’ll be all set to start making some wiser, more thoughtful fashion choices that will help you secured that PhD in style.

Devion's Favorite Item:
