Maureen - The Power of Color

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Jun 1, 2016 3:02:15 PM

Maureen is also illustrating the power of color this month. Pink/coral is a marvelous tone on most women, and finding a perfect tunic top like the one shown here from Express ($5.99) is key to great summer style. Along with a great topper, you’ll need some other fashion staples to get through the season like these white capri pants from Jones New York that were $3.99. A denim jacket, like this one from Zena ($6.99) can ward off the chill of a cool summer night. What’s the biggest fashion secret for summer? Accessories! We layered on bracelets in silver, added some cool sunglasses and found these amazing embellished sandals from Franco Sarto, too! These items ranged in price from $2.99-to-$4.99.Now that you know what to get, start shopping at Goodwill! You’ll look as great as our model does!

Kenzie - Colorful Class

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Jun 1, 2016 2:15:34 PM

Kenzie is the epitome of colorful class in this coral, special occasion dress. Now the color of this dress isn’t for everyone, but whether you call it hot pink or coral, the look is just fantastic. Here’s a great example of how a dress should fit. Not too tight, but perfectly skimming her figure. At $5.99 it was a great buy! All we needed to make this even more beautiful was this DIY floral headband that you can easily make on your own by clicking the link below. When going with such strong color and style, it’s important that the accessories compliment the look, but don’t compete with it. These vintage pumps in yellow from Wild Rose were just $9.99 and add an air of fun and flirtation to this ensemble.Note the unusual heel! Garden party? Wedding? Prom? Formal dance? With Goodwill, and our amazing selection of dresses, the answer is obviously, “YES!”

Charley - A Picture of Spring

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on May 2, 2016 11:54:47 AM

Charley is the picture of spring in this floral dress with empire waist. It was just $5.99 and is done in a wonderful multi-color print by Bonnie Jean. A girl of any age should have a couple of go-to dresses like this one when special occasions require a little more than a t-shirt and jeans. That doesn’t mean however that you can’t make it less fussy. By using Charley’s own brown leather sandals that have a more rustic quality, we’ve taken away the “precious” little girl vibe, and gone for more of a fashion-forward young lady confident look. Just for fun we also utilized a floral headband that you can learn to make for your daughter or yourself by checking out my blog here.  All in all, this look is beautiful, classic, and age appropriate all at the same time! Here’s to sunnier days ahead!

Robert - Great Look, Great Smile

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on May 2, 2016 11:32:17 AM

Robert is a guy who always seems to be smiling! That’s because he likes the way he looks, and it's one of the things that guided me in choosing items for his look this month—along with his confident outgoing attitude. So to pull this off, we mixed it up a little bit with a black-and-white houndstooth pattern t-shirt from Alternative Earth, that went along with a pale-yellow cardigan in a lightweight cotton by Express. This look is a nod to the 1980s a little bit, so we also used some great accessories like the black-and-white patterned sunglasses for $2.99, as well as the cool watch and black boots from Robert’s own wardrobe. TIP: One of the easiest ways for a guy to look a little more dressed up is to have a pair of black jeans on hand like these Lee jeans that I found for $5.99 at Goodwill. This is a casually-cool look for any spring and summertime activity, and don’t forget to wear your smile—just like our model Robert does!

Imani - Fresh and Ready for Spring

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Apr 1, 2016 12:00:00 AM

Our tween model Imani is fresh and ready for spring! Spring style doesn’t get any better, or easier, than finding that perfect floral dress. Now, there are a lot of options when it comes to floral prints … subdued, bold, and everything in between. I found her a great cotton corduroy dress from Forever 21 that was $5.99. What a deal, and it’s both somber and bright at the same time! The dark background makes the bright colors of the predominantly red-and-yellow flowers pop in a subtle way since the print is on the small side. With her hair up, I thought why not add some flair with a DIY floral headpiece! Find out how to make it on my blog. With natural beauty and an engaging smile she’s ready for church, a dance or anything! The only thing we needed to add was a pair of cute black flats that our model already had. Who says floral is for old ladies? This young and vibrant gal proves that old adage wrong!

Romain - Keeping it Casual

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Apr 1, 2016 12:00:00 AM

Mister Romain was visiting from France when we photographed these great looks on him. Boys can be just as stylish as the girls (as you can see). Keeping our color scheme monochromatic with shades of orangey-red makes all the difference between just getting dressed, and having real style! We started with that old standby of a great pair of jeans in a gray- stonewash finish from Tony Hawk for $4.99. The cool graphic t-shirt in red was just $2.99 and adds some rock-and-roll to the look. Every guy needs a great hoodie or two right? This one was by Champion and is a heavy-duty cotton that will hold up to a lot of wear, and it was $4.99. Romain himself had some cool black sneakers and that was all we needed to wrap up our cool, fashion-forward middle school guy look!

Jason - Fashion & Comfort

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Mar 1, 2016 12:03:41 PM

Our model this month, Jason, like so many guys wants to be comfortable as well as fashionable when it comes to getting dressed. Casual looks don’t have to be sloppy if you take some cues from his fun, preppy look this month. We started with his favorite pair of jeans scored at Goodwill on a recent shopping trip. They’re in a nice dark wash, so they go great with a variety of other items he already had that were also purchased at Goodwill. A plaid, short-sleeved button down shirt ($2.99), in red, white and gray is a good way to up the style factor instead of a t-shirt. It lends the gray O’Neil zip-front hoodie ($7.99) a little more substance too! Completing the look are some Steve Madden trainers in red-and-white ($4.99) and some cool shades ($2.99). When Jason needed some new clothing to fit his slimmed-down frame after diet and exercise resulted in dramatic weight loss, he turned to our well-organized stores to help him pull together a realistic working wardrobe. Not only was it easy on his budget, but it looks great too!

Kenzie - Subtle High Fashion

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Mar 1, 2016 11:54:17 AM

Kenzie takes a pair of jeans to a more high-fashion place by adding subtle hints of metallic, texture and neutral color in this amazing look. The dark-wash Banana Republic jeans are straight-legged. They’re a nice wardrobe builder and a nice, easy- -to-wear silhouette for $5.99! The beige/brown metallic-flecked sweater in a boucle knit ($5.99) is a great backdrop for layering some more texture over. We chose the fabulous Vera Wang faux-fur vest we scored for $4.99, which suits the season right now. That touch of luxury led us to accessorize this outfit with these Charlotte Russe wedge-heel booties ($6.99) with a gold/metallic embellishment, as well as layering on some classic gold -tone fashion jewelry ($2.99, $3.99) we plucked right out of the case at one of our stores! You really can’t go wrong with layering elements like the ones pictured here. Stylish, sophisticated and accessible is always the way to go!

Robert - Casual & Cool

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Feb 1, 2016 11:20:27 AM

Robert, our model this month, illustrates that casual and cool looks for men really do exist! With this outfit we showcase texture, pattern and layering, which are all key elements to pulling together great style. It starts with this black-and-white check Claiborne for men button down shirt for $4.99. TIP: You just can’t go wrong with a shirt like this since black-and-white never goes out of style. We added in some black jeans by Lee, which were a steal of a deal at $5.99, and are another go-to piece for a guy interested in looking a little more contemporary.

Maureen - Winter Chic

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Feb 1, 2016 10:45:20 AM

Maureen likes to present herself in chic and casual way during this long winter season. Here we started with her favorite jeans, just like ALL of us have, and we took it from there. I found an awesome Narciso Rodriguez designer knit shirt that was just $3.99, and I think it’s the epitome of wearable style. TIP: Long-sleeved knit tops are a great wardrobe builder - you just can’t have too many! We topped it with a trendy, classic and cozy faux-fur vest from STO that was $5.99. This vest lent our outfit some luxury and fun with its red zipper accent. Cold weather is the perfect time to pile on the accessories like the scarf and necklace shown here ($2.99 each at one of our stores). Maureen, a veteran thrift store and Goodwill shopper herself, provided some awesome boots to finish up our look on just the right note. Even though it’s definitely not a dressy look, Maureen still serves up some hot fashion during the not so hot winter weather!
