One of the best things about fall is the wardrobe transition, right? Who doesn't love comfy sweaters, leggings, jackets and, of course, shoes! Here our Goodwill Fashion Expert, Bjorn Nasett shares his insight on getting your closet ready for fall without draining your bank account. Plus, we've included some of Bjorn's top blog posts on exactly what you need when the temperature starts to dive!
Seasonal transition pieces are the linchpin of a well-curated wardrobe. Goodwill is a great place to search out unique items that can pair-up and layer with lighter items that work well when the thermometer fluctuates. One of my personal favorites from my own wardrobe is a denim trench coat I’ve worn for years—both in the springtime and again in the fall. Denim is perfect for straddling all four seasons. |

Flannel is Fashion!Flannel shirts for men and women are always on the must-have list for this time of year. When you’re out shopping at Goodwill, take a look and see if you can find one for yourself! I was inspired by the way Nautica paired flannel shirts with a casual tie. |
Denim ReportEverybody loves denim. I don’t think that there is any man, woman or child who does not have a pair of jeans is there? There are classic denim jackets of course, but there are other ways to incorporate denim into your everyday looks. |
5 Easy PiecesThere’s a fashion formula that all the stars know, and you can too! I call it their “off-duty” look. I recently saw photos of Julia Roberts in Paris just casually strolling down the street while looking quite stylish. What was she wearing? A variation on a theme of menswear, that’s what. |
Fall FloralsJust because fall is on the way doesn’t mean you need to put away the florals just yet. Depending on their colors, floral patterns can and should be worn year-round. I’ve collected a few examples here of how to wear floral patterns right on into the fall. |
A Fresh CoatThe Persians were the first people to make coats. “Coat” is also one of the first clothing category words in the English language. Later, coats were divided into over coats and under coats. Today an over coat would be considered a winter coat, and worn as the outermost layer. |
Sweater WeatherThere is nothing quite like putting on a warm and cozy sweater to make everything all right with the world isn’t there? It’s like being wrapped in comfort and security. My favorite is a gray cashmere v-neck pullover that I can layer over t-shirts and other items. |
