When we think of early fall and the coming winter we start to cozy up to the idea of changes in our wardrobe. Sweaters, boots and scarves start to come out of drawers, closets and storage to replace our t-shirts, sandals and shorts. But, is there anything new when it comes to autumnal fashion? I discovered the Nordic design team behind the Vejits collection, who has their own ideas about what to wear now. This collaboration of three designers from Finland take their textiles very seriously. Although, as you’ll see from my photographs of their New York Fashion Week runway show, they do have a sense of fun as well! The show was presented by Oxford Fashion Studios, who produce capsule collection runway shows in London and Paris, in addition to NYC.
Clean lines dominate this collection, with fitted slacks, dresses and coats, which have been tailored to perfection. TIP: When shopping at Goodwill and you see a well-made wool coat or jacket at our amazing prices, it’s well worth the effort and slight expense to have it tailored to fit you perfectly. Don’t forget when it comes to outerwear (as well as classic pieces) the rule is always quality over quantity. You’ll also see a full-circle skirt worn with a fitted sweater. The little bit of embellishment here is done with fur, feathers and appliqué (on a skirt, and on a coat). I particularly like the longer length of the skirts which give this entire capsule collection a refined, classy air about it.
So, take a look at your wardrobe and see what you like and what you lack before you shop at one of our well-organized stores. And, don’t forget to donate the gently-worn items you no longer need in order to make room for some new-to-you fall fashion!
