Anyone who knows me well can attest to the fact that I am not at all “crafty.” DIY projects are just not my forte. But, as the mother of a seven-year-old daughter, it’s inevitable that at one point or another you just have to pull a little project out of your hat. So, since I like to plant flowers around our home, this was a very easy project that I actually thought of all on my own; and it was definitely something that my daughter and I had fun doing together.
I started by finding an inexpensive set of teacups at Goodwill. The cups don’t need to match at all, but this set worked out nicely. Because I wanted to display the cups on our deck, I used some super glue to attach the saucers and cups together to make them a little more stable against the elements. Next, we purchased some flower seeds, filled the cups with soil, added the seeds, labeled each cup and displayed them on our back deck. (See, I said it was easy.) My daughter couldn’t be more proud of our unique little garden, and she’s more than happy to water the flowers each day. (I can’t make any promises that the seeds will actually grow, but here’s to hoping they do. If not, we just might be heading back to the store for some more mature flowers to add to the cups.)
