Now that fall has arrived, a lot of people I know can’t wait to reach for their cozy sweaters and coats for comfort from the chill. For many, fall is a favorite time of year simply because of the fashion choices we can make! Last February in New York, I attended the BCBG MaxAzria Fall 2015 runway show, where almost every look was relaxed and cozy looking. Rich with details such as leather, woven textures, fur trim and oversized sweaters. The pieces the designer presented were wearable and fun for women of almost any age. In the Midwest, dressing for cold weather is part of our DNA, and the ideas shown in the photographs I took provide great food for thought as we inevitably head down winter’s path.
What you should look for to emulate these looks:
Ethnic inspired details on sweaters, like embroidery, mixed materials and fur trim.
Butterscotch-colored leather boots as high as you can find!
Slightly oversized tunics and sweaters with funnel neck treatments (a little looser than a turtleneck).
Warm, inviting colors like burgundy, tan, brown and ivory that mix well with patterned cardigans, jackets, and also provide a great background for more detailed pieces.
Pattern-mixing/color-blocking with outerwear pieces.
COOL COATS!
The genius thing about the collection in my estimation was the ease with which the clothing featured on the runway could be incorporated into any wardrobe. The mix-and-match quality of the looks is inviting and fashion forward!
Next time you’re out shopping, or generously donating items to one of our stores, scan the racks to see if there’s something that could bring the runway looks shown here to your everyday life! You’ll always be AMAZED at what you find!
