Hayley - Layered Boho Look

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Nov 1, 2013 12:01:00 AM

Hayley our model search winner is a fabulous illustration of the layered boho look for fall. Taking a cue from the runways, we’ve pulled together an ensemble that combines, color, print and texture for a classic yet up-to-date daytime look.  Like we always do in this section we’ve asked our model to provide us with her favorite pair of jeans as a starting point since she loves the fit and wash. I couldn’t agree more! A great pair of jeans sets the stage for the separates we’ve carefully yet casually combined here. A Jones New York paisley print silk blouse is a great counterpoint to the Aerie fuchsia sweater. This sweater has a loopy, loose weave that makes it a terrific layering piece. The colors work well together without exactly matching. The rich brown velvet fitted blazer from Ann Taylor was a fantastic find and brings the color palette down a little bit while allowing the colors to “pop." This jacket adds just the right touch of luxury that we’re going for.  The real fun was bringing in the cool accessories, such as the paisley scarf we’ve used as a headband, the beaded watch, and the gold earrings. The Relic red leather handbag keeps the look crisp and ties in with the green leather heels. By swapping the handbag for a slouchier one, and adding some boots this could become even more casual in an instant. She looks confident, classy, and cozy doesn’t she?

Phoenix - Kid-friendly Fashion

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Apr 1, 2013 3:39:00 PM

Phoenix isn’t just your average little girl; she has a zest that just shines through in our pictures here. We kept her look fun, energetic, playful, and casual with the styling, much like her personality! Springtime always calls for lots of coats and jackets as the temperature fluctuates, so here we show you a classic Small Wear brand kids raincoat done in a bright and lively multi-color pattern. Under that we have a sparkly animal print t-shirt from Children’s Place, cropped jeans and cute black sandals. What little girl wouldn’t love all the color and glitter we’ve pulled together in this ensemble?  It almost matches Phoenix’s own spitfire qualities! Lots of layering pieces are always the way to go for day-to-day kid-friendly fashion, and that’s why Goodwill can certainly be one of mother’s little helpers in that regard.

Rachel - Print Mixing with Maternity

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Apr 1, 2013 3:31:00 PM

Hot mama Rachel was working on child number two when we shot this feature. Maternity clothing can certainly leave something to be desired, so we decided to mix it up with this outfit. Print mixing that is. We started with everyone’s staple - jeans as the basis for our pattern play here. We added a black Gap maternity t-shirt and then topped that off with a silky gold metallic long-sleeved blouse from Amelia’s that had black velvet piping for extra zip. The oversized hounds-tooth pattern long blazer by Avenue, dresses up the blouse and t-shirt and also provides us with a graphic to play off of. This is where the accessories come in; the floral multicolor scarf works perfectly with the hounds tooth as a foil to the geometry. It also allowed us to go bold with the other pieces such as Rachel’s favorite red flats, and the purple patent leather handbag with red piping. Classy, comfortable and stylish while almost nine months pregnant, she is ready to run errands, or simply run after her cutie-pie four- year-old daughter, Phoenix!

Rachel - Marvelous Maternity

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Feb 1, 2013 10:24:00 AM

Hot mama Rachel was only weeks away from giving birth to her second child when we did this photo shoot. She is the perfect illustration of utilizing Goodwill to find fashionable looks for ALL occasions!  Here, print mixing was the theme, starting with a Motherhood maternity skirt in a black and white polka dot print. From there instead of a maternity top, we used a plus sized blouse from Alfred Dunner in a fun graphic print that had just a few touches of color in it as well as a fashion forward bow tie at the collar. We completed the look with a vintage knit blazer in black poly that had a small detail of red piping with gold buttons.  Accessories are red high heels from Metaphor, a purple patent handbag, and a necklace that is actually a Rolf’s silver chain link belt with red beads that we just simply used in a different way. Feeling fun, flirty and fashionable doesn’t have to stop when you’re expanding your family and Rachel really rocks this ensemble wouldn’t you say?

James - Casual Collegiate Look

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Oct 1, 2012 8:15:00 AM

James takes it easy in a casual update of the collegiate look. The centerpiece here is the vintage Brooks Brothers jacket, which can be worn with many things including a button down shirt, and khakis for a more classic take. Here we’ve gone more “skateboard style” with a vintage t-shirt, Zara black denim jeans, EZ Rider blue suede tennis shoes and our models own studded leather belt with wallet chain. The jacket really takes all the elements and pulls them together.  That proves my point that all you really need for a great outfit is one spectacular piece to start!
