Thrifting is like a real-life treasure hunt, and I love searching through the racks to find the hidden gems. When you hit the jackpot and find a designer piece, there is no better feeling! I have found pieces from YSL, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, and more all while thrifting, and have some tips to help you find designer pieces at your local Goodwill too.
- Location: while you can find designer pieces anywhere, I have had better luck when I shop at multiple locations. Most people donate to the location closest to where they live. So, try different neighborhoods!
- Go often: Designer pieces will sell fast so make sure you thrift often and be ready to spend some time combing through the racks. Also, don’t think about it! If you see a designer piece, BUY IT. I promise you it will not be there if you wait or go back for it.
- Take your time: Don’t just look at the items behind the glass. Most times when I find designer pieces, they are mixed in with everything else on the racks. So, make sure you take the time to go through everything on the racks.
- See the potential: Sometimes, you will find a piece that will need some TLC. A simple google search can show you how to clean it. You can also send a bag off to a restorer, who can take a thrift find from a designer throw away to looking brand new.
