Homemade Shaving Cream for Dad

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Jun 8, 2016 2:53:13 PM

Homemade Shaving Cream for DadWith Father’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about a special gift for dad. Surprise him this year with his very own natural, homemade shaving cream.

Any dad will love it, but the guys with sensitive skin will really appreciate the all-natural ingredients.

You will need:

  • 1/3 cup oil: grape, coconut, avocado, almond, etc. I used grape seed oil.
  • 1/3 cup shea butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons liquid castile soap
  • 5-10 drop essential oils - optional

Melt oil and shea butter together in a saucepan. Remove from heat. It will only take a few minutes.

Pour the hot, melted liquid into a small bowl and place in the refrigerator to set. It took less than an hour to solidify. The mixture will be “solid,” but not hard like butter, it’ll be more like shortening.

Whip until fluffy with a hand or stand mixer for bout five-to-six-minutes. You’ll know when it’s done when it doesn’t drip off the beaters. If you’re planning to add a scent (essential oils) do it before whipping.

Add the castile soap to the mixture and whip again for another 1-2 minutes. The consistency will look like cream that’s ready to curdle. Don’t worry; there is nothing in this product that will curdle!  Scoop into small jars and wrap up for dad.

He’ll thank you for his nice smooth skin every day.
