The trend in wedding design is to coordinate your colors. Flowers, dresses, ties go with napkins, table settings and centerpieces. Black and white is a sophisticated and elegant color combination.

I started with a black charger, added a black speckle dinner plate, a white-rimmed salad plate and a clear soup bowl.

The beauty of clear dishes is you can display something underneath. I made place cards by printing each guest’s name on white paper then gluing it to a piece of silver, glittery scrapbook paper.

Basic white napkins are dressed up when wrapped with black and silver fabric. Get creative with your napkin rings. These white daisies are actually drapery hooks!

The table number also serves as a centerpiece. Cheese domes on wood boards are readily available at Goodwill. So are pedestal candy dishes. If you can’t find them in glass, look for silver or pewter ones.

Arrange white daisies on a plate add a table number banner and cover with the dome. Cloches are popular decorating accessories. You can use them in your new home or give them away as favors.

Not only does black and white give your reception a modern-chic vibe, it goes with any color your bridesmaids are wearing.
