halloween candles036It’s October and Halloween “season” has officially started. Parties might not be happening until later in the month, but now is the time to make decorations, favors and costumes. Nothing is worse than rushing to finish projects at the last minute.

This week I made Magical Mason jar candles. They’re perfect for Scout or school craft projects.

halloween candles033For the pumpkin, you will need:

        Cheesecloth
        Black felt
        Glue stick
        Orange paint and brush
        Green pipe cleaner

- halloween candles022 030.fwWrap a piece of cheesecloth around the jar and secure with glue.

- Add color, by lightly brushing on orange paint with a flat brush.

- Cut out felt eyes and mouth and glue to front.

- The stem is twisted pipe cleaners.

- Wrap a bandage around the jar and secure with glue.

- Tuck felt eyes into an open edge.

halloween candles026For the bat, I used a scrap of black tulle from an old prom dress.

I tied three pieces together to make wings and glued to the back. The face is plastic “crystals.” Make yours spooky or friendly.

Light up with battery operated tea lights or votive candles. Just never leave candles unattended!
