It’s been such a hot summer that cool autumn temperatures will be welcome this month! Decorating for Halloween is very popular (second only to Christmas), but before you carve the jack-o-lanterns, be sure to decorate for fall. It will be so much easier and faster to transition to a spooky and scary look in time for trick-or-treaters.
If nothing else, group pumpkins and gourds in all shapes and sizes on your porch. They’ll stay fresh for weeks.
Tie corn stalks to your porch posts or doorjamb. I tucked in cute scarecrows found at Goodwill for less than a dollar!
Not one to leave well enough alone, I added a little pizazz with glitter. Use spray adhesive and sprinkle glitter to the hat and collar.
For the door, I started with a grapevine wreath.
For a nice balance, arrange silk flowers on the lower left side. Hold in place with wire.
Finish it off with bow (opposite the flowers), casually weaving the ends in and around the wreath. Wire edged ribbon hold its shape best. I added a garland of metal stars I used for Christmas one year.
My porch will welcome guests through October. When I’m ready for Halloween decorating I only have to make a few changes or additions. Be sure to check it out in a couple of weeks!
I’ll have lots of Halloween decorating ideas and tips throughout September and October.
