Let There Be Candlelight

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Jun 13, 2012 2:49:00 PM

Wedding season is upon us. Every bride wants her day to be special and unique. The more you can do ahead of time to prepare for your wedding, the less stress you will have on the big day.

goodwill ask the expertsEvery wedding needs candlelight. It doesn’t matter if you're having a country hoe-down in an old barn or an elegant dinner at a hotel. Candles on the table set the mood.

DIY candle holders are inexpensive and something that can be done months in advance.

Once you decide the style and size you need, you will find lots of votive cups and glasses at Goodwill for as little as $.49.

Surround small candles with “glass filler gems” that match your color scheme. Each glass doesn’t need to match as long as the filler is the same. No one will know (or care!).

Or attach colorful beads. Look for flat, faceted beads or rhinestones with self-adhesive backs. No need to work with messy glue.

If you want a more elegant look, bling up the votive containers. You need spray adhesive and various glitters. I attached shipping tape to the top, outside lip of the votive. That way you will have a clean edge to handle the candles without touching the glitter.

Make your day even more special with simple projects that you can boast, “I made it myself!”
