After the Holidays Decorating - Tips and Ideas

Now that the holidays are over, you may be wondering how you can extend the life of your Christmas decorations! Don’t pack away all your ornaments and garlands just yet, the winter season is still underway and with short days and long nights, you deserve a home that's cheerful and bright throughout the season. So, what can you do? Here are FOUR decorating tips to make your home comfy and cozy again until we welcome spring!

Throw Pillows

Update your sofa with colorful pillows and throws. Stay warm and snuggle up with the family on cold evenings surrounded with cushy pillows and blankets.

White Decor

Incorporate white into your décor. White brightens up any space and makes it feel larger.

  • Choose white throw pillows or blankets.
  • Look for white accessories for the mantle or coffee table such as vases, picture frames, table runner, and flowers.

Candles

Load up on lots candles. Place them on the mantle or coffee and end tables. Candles evoke cozy, romantic vibes that leave you feeling relaxed and at ease. If you’re concerned about small children and animals, invest in battery operated candles!

Multi-Use Christmas Decor

Not all Christmas decorations are strictly for the holiday. Here are few décor pieces to keep out:

  • Snowmen: Keep your snowmen collection on display. You’ll likely be building them with the kids in the months to follow anyway!

  • Snowflakes: Decorate with snowflakes. For a fun family activity, have the kids cut out paper snowflakes and hang them in the windows or mirrors. Another idea is to decorate with simple and elegant throw pillows and blankets patterned with snowflakes.

  • Faux Flowers and Garlands: Re-use faux flowers and garland. You can switch out your holiday vase for a clear glass vase or remove ornaments and other décor surrounding these pieces for a more minimalist look.
