Black Widow Fascinator ... 1, 2, 3!

Want an easy and fun costume in a flash? The great thing about Halloween and Goodwill is that we’re chocked full of Halloween costume pieces, ideas, and decorations! While watching an old movie one night, I saw a showgirl costume featuring a spider headdress. This inspired me to come up with my own version utilizing items I found at Goodwill! Keep in mind, you can use almost any lightweight Halloween decoration to create a spooky fascinator! What you’ll need to make this cool, spooky, yet spectacular head piece is listed below!

Costume or Couture?

Not everyone wants to be ghoulish and ghastly on Halloween. Some ladies prefer a classy and glamorous costume, and you can’t do better than a dress portraying the flapper era of the 1920s. I would avoid the fringed-type dresses and garish colors, but instead go for a sophisticated take on that look using pieces you could actually wear again! The Great Gatsby was my inspiration when I went Goodwill to find an entire outfit from the plethora of items our stores have in their Halloween section!

Here’s what I bought and why:

3 Last Minute Halloween Costumes!

Some people plan their Halloween costumes for months, or perhaps even a year if they really want to be meticulous about it. Others are more likely to say something like, “That party is tonight?  I better find something to wear!” If you’re in the latter category, Goodwill and a couple of items from your own closet could come to your last-minute costume rescue. I brainstormed a few ideas that are easy and fun to do using clothing, and/or costume pieces you could find at one of our stores or, maybe these might be things you already have!

Halloween Skeleton Make Up 1, 2, 3!

There is no easier way to do a scary Halloween costume than using make up to turn yourself, or your child, into a creature of the night! All things ghoulish are the way to go for a haunted Halloween. My friend Jonathan Carthell recently posted a photo of himself done up in a simple skeleton make up that is very effective and easy to do. He allowed me to use his picture so that I could show you just how fast and fun it would be to do your own version of this classic and creepy, might I add, transformation!

Conjure Up Halloween Savings with Goodwill!

Whenever a sentence starts with “when I was a kid we…” you know you’re getting a little older.  But truthfully, not so many years ago, much of the fun of Halloween was in helping to put together your own special costume, wasn’t it?  Of course, even back in the “good old days” there were store bought costumes versus homemade costume debates all the time. What I remember was how fun it was to poke around in grandma’s attic, or at rummage sales my mom went to throughout the year, to pick and choose pieces that I could craft my Halloween vision with. Now, there are a lot of ways to get your Halloween party on, but Goodwill is the undisputed headquarters when it comes to creativity as well as economy. Whether you’re in the mood for a costume that’s frightening and scary, outrageous and funny, or movie star in the making, our stores literally have all the things you’ll need. With the variety of items available putting together a distinctive Halloween costume is easy, and our prices won’t leave you screaming in terror!
