  • styleFind a plain dress of your choosing, or take one you already own, and artfully "bling" it up. Arrange rhinestones or decorative pins on the dresses shoulder, at the hip or décolletage. This will give you a unique vintage look that commands attention. You can also take your "bling" to your shoes; decorate the heel or toe of a simple pair of heels with rhinestones found at a craft store. Be sure to check the shelves at your local Goodwill for your dress and shoes. You'll find a variety of colors and styles that are sure to fit your fashion personality!
  • Fancy handbags can add lots of flair and panache to any prom goer's ensemble. They can also be quite pricey! Goodwill has a huge selection of handbags to choose from at a fraction of the cost of other retailers. Look for satin, metallic or beaded treatments to make you feel special at your prom.
  • Gentleman attending prom should also look their best. Goodwill is a great place for a "new to you" suit. Add a nice dress shirt and tie and you'll sweep your date off her feet with the amount of money you saved! If you're looking to update a suit you already own, find a pillow case or woman's blouse at Goodwill that you can cut to make your own pocket square!

Make-up Tips

You can't have a prom look without the perfect make-up to complete the look! Lucky for us, we've got Fashion Expert Bjorn to give us the lastest and greatest in make-up tips. When it comes to prom this year, stylish ladies will take make-up cues from the pros in the fashion world. Here are Bjorn's top 5 ways to look your best for your big night out!

  1. makeup1From the past comes the winged eye-liner to give any gal the look that pop star Adele has brought back into fashion. Using a sharpened black eye pencil, close one eye and draw a small triangle at the outer edge of the eye and make sure the end is pointing up toward your temple. This can extend a little or a lot depending on how dramatic you want to be. You might have to practice a few times but you can do this easily. Then simply connect from the inner corner to the outer triangle and go over it a few times to make it as thick as your original triangle. To set the pencil, use a make-up brush and some dark eye shadow brushed lightly over your penciled on cat-eye!
  2. makeup2To open up your eyes even more and make them seem larger, do as the pros do! Rim the inner eye with a white eye pencil to do the trick.
  3. Lashes, lashes and more lashes are what the doctor orders for a glam night at the prom. Buy a strip lash kit (that includes glue) that is more on the wispy side. Trim off about 1/4 to 1/2 of the lash from the inside. You'll be left with just the piece that has the longer lashes attached.
Put some glue on the top of your hand (pro trick) and drag the edge of the lash through to evenly distribute glue. Set aside carefully and do the other one. describe the imageNow the first one should be ready for application. If you've done the cat eye already (pro tip) simply and carefully press the glued strip lash next to your own lashes at the outer corner of the eye. Gently push up while it sets for a few seconds. Next, follow on the other eye and you'll have loads of lashes! Use mascara to "marry" your lashes with the faux, and you're good to go... to the prom that is!
  4. makeup3Blush these days is creamy and dreamy. For a natural look, use a cream blush and apply to the apples of your cheeks, to give a glowing look. Dot it on with your fingertip first, and then rub gently in a circular motion to even out. Do this a few times until your blush is just right.
  5. For lips that look luscious, start by lining with a pencil close to the gloss color you choose. Next, smudge the line slightly toward the inner lip. Fill in with more lip liner until you have achieved an even look. Go over that with your chosen gloss, and your lips will look great all evening long - with just a few touch ups of gloss here and there.
