Summer picnics and barbecues are in full swing. Who doesn’t love the ease of grilling out and casual gatherings with friends during the summer months? Make your next BBQ special with a few simple tricks and supplies you can find at Goodwill.
Goodwill is a great place to find a badminton set, croquet, bocce ball and Frisbees. Both your young and old guests can participate in these games!
Whether it’s grade school, high school or college, you want to make your graduate’s party memorable! So, ditch the graduation paper plates and cups that everyone else will have, and pull together items from Goodwill to personalize your graduate’s celebration.
Look for glassware, plates, platters and table cloths/runners in your school colors to create your one-of-a-kind tablescape.
DIY’ers
Collect different size and shaped clear glasses, vases and jars. Spray paint them in your school colors.
-Create a centerpiece by adding flowers, attaching the graduate’s photo on a stick or creating a graduation cap using black construction paper, string as the tassel and attaching the cap to a pencil.
-Enhance the lighting on your patio or deck by adding tea lights to jars and hang them all around.
Create a simple graduation banner by using scrape book paper and ribbon.
Repurpose an old end table by painting it your school colors. You can use it to display party favors or special drinkware.
Identify the age of graduate: Players must look through photos of the graduate and put them in order from oldest to most recent. The person who finishes with the most correct and in the fastest time wins!
Everyone loves the beach, so why not throw a beach party this summer for all of your friends and family who can’t make it to the “real” beach. Goodwill can make decorating for it fun, affordable and easy.
When shopping think “beach themed” items like: pails & shovels, beach balls, beach towels, beach umbrellas, lawn chairs, suntan lotion, flip-flops, flippers, swim suits, sunglasses, beach bags, seashells, a life ring, blow up rafts and mattresses, beachy-themed plates and glassware—maybe you’ll even find a stuffed fish, crab or octopus too.
When your guests arrive at the party they will enter through your front door, so an easy way to decorate this area is to hang swim suits, sunglasses, beach bags or a life ring on it. Or, if you are feeling crafty, you can easily create a “Welcome Sign” by gluing together five flip-flops and with paint or a marker, add a letter to each flip-flop and spell out WELCOME. Don’t forget to decorate any other doors your guests will see!
Create a beach-themed photo booth with props like snorkels, goggles, sunglasses, towels, beach bags and ball. Your guests will have a ‘ball!’
