Every bride wants her wedding to be perfect (and perfection quickly adds up). All the little details that make the day special can cost beaucoup dollars. Whenever you can make some of the things yourself, you not only save money, but also have the satisfaction of putting a personal touch on your big day!
One thing you can easily make yourself are place cards, table numbers and seating assignments. There’s many clever ways to tell your guests which table they’re assigned to.
I love it when table numbers and place cards can serve as gifts too. Who doesn’t like to take home a party favor?
Collect clear glass votive cups from Goodwill. They don’t all have to be the same size, mix it up!
You will also need:
- Clip clothes pins
- Spray paint
- frost/etching paint
- sponge paint brush
- trim or ribbon
- craft glue or hot glue gun
- decorative tags or vintage cards
This project is so easy you can make dozens in a few hours. Invite your bridesmaids over and set up an assembly line.
Thoroughly clean the votive cups and apply the frost/etching paint with the sponge brush. Follow directions on the bottle.
While the votive cups are drying, paint the clothes pin with spray paint in a color that coordinates with your wedding theme.
Glue ribbon or trim to each cup. I love doing something different. I purchased a package of mesh tubing (find it in the floral section at the craft store) and spray painted it the same color. Then I wrapped it around the votive and held it in place with hot glue gun.
Glue the place card to the painted clothes pin. Look for something totally unique that goes with your wedding theme. Instead of numbers, choose cities or letters, or vintage playing cards or Scrabble letters… The ideas are limitless!
