DIY Nursery Lamp

DIY-Nursery-Lamp-250This must be the year of babies! I know at least six couples who have had or are going to have a baby in 2015. If your find yourself invited to several baby showers this summer, consider giving a personal gift for the nursery. This little lamp is so easy you can make one for every newborn.

lamp_small-toys.fwLook for a small lamp with a solid base. It doesn’t have to be straight, but have enough surface so you can glue toys to it. I found this one at Goodwill for $2.99. It’s the perfect size for the table next to the crib (12 in. tall including the shade; the base is 6-½ inches).

You’ll also need small toys, a hot glue gun and spray paint. Goodwill is a great source for bags of little toys. I chose farm and zoo animals.

Nursery-Lamp-Step-1-250Start by gluing the biggest animals to the base. Take advantage of the shape of the animal. The dinosaurs were posed and fit perfectly around the curve of the lamp.

Nursery-Lamp-Step-2-250-2Continue attaching the animals. You will want to overlap them and tuck a few into open spaces. Make sure you get a couple heads or tails pointing out.

When you’re finished, pull off the glue “stings” and paint it with spray paint. Ask the mother-to-be what color she is decorating the nursery so your gift will fit right in.
