DIY Cork Trivet

Find me on:

DIY Cork TrivetWisconsin might be a beer drinking state by tradition and history, but wine is having its moment here and across the country. (The French and Italians are saying “Finally!”) In fact, I found a bag of wine corks at Goodwill for a couple of bucks. Someone probably had intentions of making something with them, but gave up. That person’s loss is my gain!

I started with a sheet of cork (what else?) for the base and a glue gun. The thicker the base, the more stable your trivet will be. This piece is 3/8-in. thick.

I cut a 7 in.-by-7 in. section from the cork sheet.

Then simply glue the corks to base in a pattern that appeals to you. Fast and easy. A great gift or use it to protect your table with hot dishes straight from the oven.

Salut!
