It’s mid-summer and hopefully, your garden is in full bloom. If you’re between plantings, but still want to work in the garden (besides weeding), try adding accessories. I particularly like to place old chairs among my flowers. They add interest and give height to potted plants.
I found this arm chair at Goodwill for a couple of bucks. I had intended to recover the seat for another project, but never got around to finishing it beyond the new coat of paint. I wrote “Welcome” with white acrylic craft paint and a skinny brush. Since the seat was missing, I placed an old board on the bottom stretcher to hold a clay pot.
This old kitchen chair has seen better days. The paint is peeling and worn, but I prefer to call it character! It fits right in with shrubs and a big rock (check out the nut shell left by a squirrel). The pink flower adds a nice constant against the yellow plant.
Or, if space is limited, look for a children’s chair. It adds a “secret garden” quality to my flower beds.
The best part of using old chairs is they look better as they age!
