It’s that time of year again. Time to celebrate mothers everywhere! Or at least your own mom! I always invite my parents and mother-in-law over for a Sunday brunch. A brunch menu is easier to prepare than dinner and after everyone goes home, you have a free afternoon.
When I shop Goodwill, I’m always on the look-out for placemats, napkins and table cloths. (You have to buy ‘em when you see ‘em!) If you find reversible ones like this blue set, even better (the other side has black stripes).
The blue bowls with brown edge are practically a perfect color match.
Then I found a whole bunch of wooden bread boards. Not only do they make a great foundation for my bowls, they will be nice gifts for Mom to take home.
You know me, I love personalized napkin rings. I tied bronze initial tags to some metal rings I already had with leather cord. They’re perfect with the bread boards. A little down-home country.
The chop sticks are just for the fun of it. I like to set the table, have guests enter the dining room for the “Wow” effect. I’m sure I’ll have to offer forks and spoons to my folks during the meal!
I usually design my table setting before I plan the menu. In this case, I will certainly have a big basket of hearty bread and rolls and some sort of soup. Hopefully, my husband will be doing the cooking…
