Mason Jars

I’ve used plain jars for drinks at a summer party. But her decorated options would be perfect for cool beverages at a causal wedding reception (think barn dance).

She found lots of jars and candle sticks in various sizes and shapes at Goodwill.

After cleaning them up, she glued decorative rhinestone beads to the front and cabinet handles to the side with Go 2 Glue she found at the hardware store. Choose colorful beads and stones to coordinate with the theme of your event or dining room.

The oil lamp is a bigger project, but still very easy. She drilled a hole through the lid (actually her husband Darryl did the drilling!). She glued the burner and collar to the lid. If you don’t find old lamps to reuse at Goodwill, you can get the parts at a hardware store. Fill the jar with lamp oil; add a shade (Goodwill for .99) and you have romantic lighting. Remember to never leave a lamp unattended!

Carefully hand-wash the mugs and goblets.
