Christmas Under Glass

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Dec 6, 2012 10:07:00 AM
ChristmasA few months ago I showed you some display ideas using glass “anniversary” clocks. You can use them all year long; but they’re perfect for creating Christmas scenes.

I like lots of glitter, snow and sparkle. Under glass it stays in place so there is no mess!

1.The working parts and movements are visible under glass domes in anniversary clocks. I never have any trouble finding a selection at Goodwill stores from $2.99 to $5.99. Remove the insides and spray paint the base if needed.

2. Start collecting small Christmas decorations that will fit under the glass.

3.Use a heavy duty glue to keep everything in place.

4. Be creative when decorating each item. A plain wire tree gets the holiday treatment with pearl “ornaments” and presents.

5. Use spray adhesive to get glitter and fake snow to stick. This snowman was little too short, so I glued silver snowflakes to the top to fill in the space.

6. When finished, glue the dome to the base.

Cloches are very popular in home decorating. They’re also very expensive. I love the idea of up-cycling old clocks. Covered cheese plates work too!

Send me photos of your creations!
