A round evergreen wreath is the traditional Christmas door decoration. This year, I decided to try something different. Not only is the shape unique, there’s not a bit of green.
Since I showed you how to make frame placemats a few weeks ago, I got inspired to find other uses for old frames.
You can use any size, shape or color. I like a vertical rectangle and white paint for this project.
I shop at Goodwill stores every week. When I find something that I can turn into a project I snatch it up. You know it won’t be there later! I found several boxes of ornaments in gold for less than $1.99.
I love the worn, vintage look of old glass bulbs, but I wanted this wreath to sparkle. With a little spray adhesive and glitter, old becomes new!
You can use fishing line to hang the ornaments, but it’s a little difficult to tie, so I used dental floss! Stagger the ornaments so none hangs at the same level. (And remember the odd number rule.) Trim the excess floss and add a bow at the top to camouflage the strings.
Sometimes more is better, so I draped gold bead garland over and around the ornaments and frame. This is so pretty, you can hang it anywhere. It would be perfect on a mirror over the fireplace. Or make several and hang in the windows!
