Halloween Bling

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Sep 27, 2012 2:55:00 PM

halloween blingI’ve never shied away from adding a little bling to my fashion or home accessories. However, little goes a long way in home interiors. But anything goes when it comes to holiday decorating!

You know, once you carve a pumpkin, it lasts only a few days. If you want a head start on your Halloween decorating, try a few new “no carving” ideas for upscale jack-o-lanterns. Choose pumpkins in a variety of sizes and shapes. I like ones with interesting stems too.

halloween blingThe easiest idea is to add self-stick jewels or beads.  You can put them in a random or specific pattern. Use your imagination.

Or start with black spray paint.  High gloss will reflect light more than a matte finish.

After it dries, bling it up with more rhinestones.

Of course white pumpkins are even more versatile. I love this stem!

halloween blingThis one takes a little more time, but the results are fabulous. I found a lace blouse in the women’s section at Goodwill and cut off the sleeves and buttons.

Set the pumpkin in a bowl (to keep it from rolling around the table. Apply Mod Podge with a paint brush and drape on the lace. Pat the lace in place, cutting sections to fit. I started at the bottom so I could gather the excess at the stem. Or you can cut strips of lace and work from top to bottom.

Send me photos of you jeweled pumpkins. I would love to see your ideas!
