Share The Love - Please Be Seated

amazing goodwill home exteriorsPlanning your wedding can be exciting, but at times somewhat stressful. Keep in mind that whether your big day is a formal affair or a casual party in the yard, it should reflect the style and personality of the bride and groom.

Please Be Seated

By assigning seats at the reception, you’re helping minimize stress for both you and your guests. While it takes a bit of planning and organizing, your guests will appreciate knowing where to sit (especially if there are personality issues among friends and family).

Be creative with Table Numbers and escort cards.

Instead of the traditional stands and number cards provided by restaurants and halls, personalize your event to coordinate with your wedding theme or colors.

Goodwill is a fabulous source of inexpensive picture frames. You can paint them to match your colors or look for 5x7’s in a particular finish.

Pick a coordinating pattern or colored scrapbook paper. Choose a font that suits your style or invitation and then simply cut and paste.

Tear a page from an old book and tuck it into a vintage gold frame. The frames don’t have to match exactly, but should be the same size and finish.

For a more casual wedding reception, look for small chalkboards. Paint them or keep them au naturel. Provide a piece of chalk at the table for guests to write messages to the bride and groom.

Find some clear salad plates, which are readily available at Goodwill. After the party you will have a full set for future dinners! Print and cut out table numbers and adhere to the back of each plate with tiny bits of tape.

Who said tables have to be assigned a number? Use something personal like your favorite movies or song titles, places you’ve lived or visited, colors, street names…the possibilities are endless.

Postcards from your travels or honeymoon destination are perfect, like this example of the Eiffel Tower. It’s glued to glittery paper and framed horizontally.

Cut up old maps for the background. Select a mat paper in the same colors as your dresses, flowers or napkins.

Enjoy your wedding day with these ideas or invent your own. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your reception personal. Have fun with it!
