Add a daring splash of lime green décor for St. Patrick’s Day dinner and your guests will be “green with envy.”
Instead of the usual tablecloth, I used black felt with a touch of glitter. It’s washable, inexpensive and can be cut to fit any size table. Bright green wood placemats offer a much needed punch of color.
Of course, flowers and candles are always on my table. This time I chose potted white daisies and wrapped with them coordinating tissue paper. It’s so simple and inexpensive, but no less elegant. A couple votive candles nestled in a bed of green glass add to the ambiance. You can find all sorts of small dishes for candles at Goodwill. These were only 49¢ each.
The LWP (little white plate) is your cupboard equivalent of the LBD (little black dress). Everyone needs a set. Keep the color theme going, by incorporating oversize green soup bowls.
Butter pats (individual dishes for a hunk of butter) bring old world elegance to the party. Your friends will be impressed!
The place card holders are a clever idea and are simply office paper clips. I pinched one to each bowl and attached the guest’s name. These take upcycling to the next level!
This table was a little cozy, without much room for extras, so I folded the napkins on the back of the chairs. They helped brighten up the space when the lights were dimmed.
Every party should have good conversation, great food and some unexpected touches. Create a beautiful, unique St. Patrick’s Day table with “green” items from Goodwill and your guests will feel as lucky as a shamrock!
