The Black & White Fashion Trend (On a Budget)

One of the reasons I love to thrift shop is the thrill of finding a really great bargain at an unbelievable price. As a matter of fact, I love to window shop at major retailers and then try to duplicate similar outfits when shopping at Goodwill. This past weekend, I visited a major retailer and checked out the "What's Trending” section. I saw a super cute black-and-white clothing display and instantly thought I could recreate the same look for a fraction of the price. Looking Rich While Staying on a Budget

It's no secret that wealthy individuals maintain their fortune because they often live frugal lifestyles. The wealthy save money and are very selective on how they spend their income. To be honest, I don't know a lot of rich people, but I'd bet many of them shop at thrift stores like Goodwill. The warmer weather brings many great holidays, weddings and parties to attend, and sometimes you just want to go dressed like a rich chick! I have a few special occasions coming up, so I did what I think rich people sometimes do—you guessed it, I went to Goodwill to find the perfect outfit!

Vacation Essentials at Goodwill

This past weekend I took a trip to New Orleans for my sister’s bachelorette party and before I left, I visited my local Goodwill to shop for vacation essentials. One of the reasons I highly recommend shopping at your local thrift store for vacation essentials is because, for most people, the cost of going on vacation can quickly add up. Once you’ve booked your flight and hotel, plus added in food and vacation activities, you may start to feel a little stressed out. I save money by picking up the basics at Goodwill. This way I can look cute on a budget!!!

Spring Fashion Haul

Finally the warmer weather looks as if it’s here to stay in Chicago and I am so happy! Higher temps mean I can listen to my favorite music with the sunroof open, enjoy family bike rides, and a pleasant breeze of fresh air coming through the windows at home. I am so excited! (I just really hope, wish and pray it’s here to stay.) The warmer weather brings the spring season, which means the Easter holiday is upon us. Recently I took a trip to my local Goodwill to see if I could find the perfect Easter service dresses for my daughters.

Nothing makes an outfit stand out more than awesome accessories. Accessories can literally disguise the outfit you wore only yesterday, and hide the fact that you just shook off the dust and decided to wear it again today! Simply put, accessories create a completely brand new look.

Goodwill Fashion Guide

Not everyone loves to thrift shop, I get it! Some hate the idea of wearing clothing once owned by a stranger. Others say it takes too much time to sort through clothing and they just don’t get the thrill of thrift stores. Believe me, I understand all of this as I wasn’t always a fan of thrifting either. Now that I’ve been shopping at Goodwill for years, I’ve developed some guidelines that have greatly helped me plan my shopping trips, save money and have the cutest wardrobe ever (if I do say so myself) I’m just sayin…

How to Wear Black & Not Look Boring

I am currently attending school in pursuit of a beauty college instructor license, and on my first day I received the dreadful news, “teachers in training must wear black.”

I wanted to scream no, please don’t make me! I loathe wearing black. It’s so boring and plain! I would much rather wear vibrant colors. As teachers in training, we have to be examples for the students, so I decided to comply with the dress code rules. Suddenly realized I had a challenge on my hands. How could I wear black without looking boring? Thankfully black is such an easy to color to find. The first part of my plan was to take a trip to my local Goodwill.
