Winter to Spring Transitions

Mara HoffmanWith today’s focus on getting more bang for our fashion buck, many designers are creating collections that can easily go from one season to another without a hitch. And, with the wildly-fluctuating weather we’ve seen across the country, it’s hard to know when to wear a parka, or simply throw on a sweater or a cape. Mom, and fashion designer, Mara Hoffman, puts a lot of ideas on display in this fall and winter collection that can make the bridge toward early spring a little more foolproof. From her ethnic prints (which are seasonless FYI), to her fun accessories and on-trend hairstyles, this collection has something for everyone. What do you see when you look at the photos below?

  • Winter white
  • Tassel-and-fringe necklaces
  • Braided hairstyles
  • High-necked collars
  • Victorian details
  • Large cape/scarves
  • Layering halters/strapless over other items
  • Neutrals as a base
  • Longer skirt lengths
  • Oversized proportions on sweaters
  • Geometric prints
  • Black-and-white
  • Subtle metallic shine

For me the word “bohemian” comes to mind when looking at this collection. Having said that, what does it mean “bohemian” actually mean? In a word it means “hippie,” but as far as style is concerned, it means baggy sweaters, tunics, boots, maxi dresses and skirts, lacy blouses, embroidery and so much more. That’s why the trend has endured for so long. It allows the wearer to pull together items and create their own style. Now, that being said, not everything in this collection would fit the description, but many would.

The genius of shopping at one of Goodwill’s well-organized stores is that you have the opportunity to explore style in a way that’s all your own … without breaking the bank!  And, you’re supporting our mission, which is a definite plus!
