Winter Dreams

Find me on:

Winter FashionWith the end of winter still a few months away, our fashion thoughts start to turn towards shifting gears a little bit. In the midst of our cabin fever we start to dream of color, texture and other ways to help ease us through until springtime. Designer Ran Fan founded her label in London in 2009, and she definitely has her own ideas on what fashion should (and can be) if you just use your imagination. You can learn more about her here. I took the shots you see below at her fall and winter presentation at New York Fashion Week and I love the way she mixes things together. There’s fur, there’s leather and there’s also some bright and vibrant color. Take a look and see what you think! It’s always fun to get some new ideas to perk up your wardrobe.

Here’s what to look for:

  • Sheer elements
  • Vibrantly colored fur
  • Bright color blocking
  • Varying skirt lengths
  • Architectural designs
  • Powerful silhouettes
  • Juxtaposition of hard and soft, flowing and linear
  • Great coats with unusual trim
  • Blouson jackets

All of these looks could quite easily be interpreted for your own wardrobe with a little help from Goodwill. Keep in mind that the best way to make room for new, or new-to-you items, is to really take a look at the clothing you wear on a daily basis and then contrast that with what you never or infrequently wear. The items you wear the least most likely have not fit or flattered you, so why not donate them to one of Goodwill’s convenient drop off areas? That’ll clear the way in both your closet and your mind to allow the pursuit of your own winter fashion dreams!
