Fall Fashion Goes Nomadic

Leave it to the designers at Nicholas K to bring all kinds of visual references to their Fall and Winter 2015 collection which bowed last February at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC.  Sometimes as viewers we may not see the ultimate wearability of some of these over-the-top ensembles. But, on closer inspection, you realize that designers want to give us ideas we can integrate into our own fashion choices. Not many people do literal takes on what they’ve seen on the runway. In other words, sometimes you just have to enjoy the view, and create your own take-away from what you’ve seen.

“Pick 5” for Fall Fashion

We all have our methods of choosing items of interest at Goodwill each time we shop. This week I asked my stylish friend Jordan to come shopping with me and pick five items that should make every gal’s fall wardrobe must-have list. I thought she was the perfect choice to take on my “Pick 5” challenge. Here’s what she got ...

Borrowed From The Boys for Fall 2015

Menswear has always been about classic fabrics like wool and patterns such as plaids and stripes. This fall a lot of international designers are reflecting the male suiting structure into their runway looks. Take, for instance, the design duo of Costello Tagliapietra, whose models strutted their stuff on the catwalks of NYC last February wearing some extraordinary ensembles featuring buttoned-up and toned-down “borrowed-from-the-boys” garments.

Fall Winery Tour?

Rich reds. Robust burgundies. Merlot. So many wonderful wines. Though I’m not truly a connoisseur of the grape as it pertains to the alcohol, I can tell you that as a tone, color, or hue, this traditional shade is making strides on the runways of fashion week for the fall and winter ahead. I spied the deep notes of autumn wines in numerous offerings by designers at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week last February. This brownish-red tone has traveled from sportswear to evening wear without even batting an eyelash … so let’s take a look at the shades and shapes that will make for an intoxicating fall-fashion season!

Fall Guys

When the leaves start to fall it’s time to review what we have in our closets for the autumn and winter seasons to come. Yes, that means you too, men! As a guy who works in the fashion business I have a pretty good eye for what works for the average man, as well as what he might actually wear. Of course, I dress up a little more frequently than most guys do because of my job but, at the end of the day, every male needs to be in the loop about fashion and style for fall. I’m going to dispense some tips about the looks that are easy to emulate - and those that can be achieved by any man, boy, guy or dude who wants to put a little style spin on his everyday wardrobe this fall and winter.

Fashion Transitions for Fall

Once again its that time of year. Time to put away the lightweight cotton dresses, tank tops, shorts and other pieces in our wardrobe that won’t help ward off the chill of fall. Or is it? With a few simple tricks, and the right layering pieces, those fashion favorites of the summer season can make the transition to take you into the brisk days of fall.

And …That’s a Print!

As we look to fall we begin to take in the changes in the weather, as well as our hopefully "well-seasoned" wardrobe. Patterns and prints are mainstays of stylish looks, no secret there, but this week let’s take a look at the depth and breadth of prints when they’re paraded down the runway. Our inspiration will be the autumn and winter collections of The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City, where both unsung and well-known designers alike do their best to inspire everyone who loves new ideas.
