One of the best things about summer here in the Midwest is ditching the winter duds for bright and breezy clothing! It seems the minute the temperature goes above let’s say 40 degrees, people start sporting flip flops, maxi dresses and short shorts! Since our season is rather short, it’s very wise to be ready for the warm and welcoming sunshine with a wardrobe full of wearable separates. This week we’ll take a look at some spectacular tops I picked up at Goodwill. What’s great about tops is that they can be worn alone, or they look awesome as a layering piece under blazers, shirts and jackets. You really need to have some basic pieces like tank tops and plain t-shirts of course, but you should also keep on the lookout for stand-out toppers like the ones in my slideshow.
Trends to Spot:
- Sheer fabrics
- Cropped and lacy
- Metallic details
- Floral prints
- Geometric properties
- Color blocking
- Lace and macramé
- Unusual details (like high/low hems and deeply cut tank tops)
- Pop-art prints
- Bohemian slouchy t-shirts
- Dolman sleeve tops
- Bright colors
- Textures that pop
The best way to go shopping at Goodwill, in my opinion, is to go there on a quest to look for specific items. The reason being; if you’re anything like me, it’s too easy to get distracted and off subject because of all the treasures just waiting to be discovered! Shopping with purpose is a better use of your time and Goodwill’s resources! Make a list of items you need, or like I did this week, zero-in on one type of garment and your focus will remain razor sharp! Rise to the top this season by supporting our mission!
