That 70s Spring!

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Mar 22, 2016 12:00:00 AM

That 70s SpringSpring is almost here! Hooray! Let’s celebrate the end of a long winter by taking a look at a designer collection that was surely ahead of the trends when I photographed it. Amber Patton showed a simple and pretty spring and summer collection a few years ago in New York during Fashion Week. It’s pretty clear that her ideas about fashion design are sleek and clean-lined, but the model styling went totally 70s with the oversized flowers and braided upswept hairstyles on many of the models. Take a look at the off the shoulder tops and jumpsuits, the baby doll dresses and the top and shorts combinations are also pretty groovy, but in a modern and good way. With these easy pieces, there is something here for everyone!

Take Note:

  • Floral hairpieces - real or faux
  • Braided hairstyles
  • Leather
  • Soft color palette
  • Platform shoes
  • Clean lines
  • Off the shoulder, or peasant style
  • Pink berry lipstick and nail polish
  • Birds-nest bun hairstyles
  • Soft pink eye makeup and blush
  • Sheer fabrics
  • Leather (as in the shorts)
  • Black as a spring color
No matter how you prepare yourself for spring and summer when it comes to your wardrobe, Goodwill is a great place to get ideas of what you could wear. When people donate their gently-worn designer items, you get a chance to try on that style for yourself!  You can literally branch out by shopping for a few blouses, or perhaps you need a new-to-you little black dress for those upcoming weddings or parties? Either way, in the end when you donate or shop at our stores in Wisconsin and Illinois you’re supporting the important mission Goodwill has, and that is to put people back to work!
