Fashion is a universal language of sorts isn’t it? A friend of mine who works at Goodwill in Oak Creek told me about an employee there who emigrated from Russia to the United States last year. I was told that his passion for fashion and design were really something so, of course, I had to find out more … Meet future fashion star Konstantin!
Where did you study fashion?
I was a fashion student for four years at the Novgorod State University in Russia.
How were you introduced to fashion?
When I was five-or-six years old my great grandmother showed me how to sew, and my mom always made clothes for people. She knows how to make fur coats, hats, gloves... everything! Monday to Friday me and mom watched TV fashion shows. I really enjoyed this time. Sometimes I told to my mother I can make better designs than the TV stylists!
What are your ideal fashion looks?
I'm an edgy person. I look at things from different angles. I am also inspired by the 1950-60s and something more crazy from the 80s.
What is your fashion philosophy?
Simple clothes and interesting accessories. You don't have to buy really expensive clothes, but you must to have good quality shoes, bags and accessories. Try to create your wardrobe from simple things if you don't have time to think about what you want to wear today: white shirt or striped, navy blue jeans, and accessories!
What is the one thing people should think about when they go to Goodwill?
Always think about what do you need? And, do you really need it? Always keep in mind how your new clothes will correspond with your current wardrobe.
