You never know what you’re going to see on the runways of New York Fashion Week. It’s often fun, fashionable and fresh, but other times you just scratch your head and wonder who in the world would ever wear that?! Still, the one thing that almost never changes is the way people attending the September shows (spring and summer fashion for 2016) and February shows (Fall and winter fashion for 2016) dress to impress! Throughout the city during those weeks, numerous venues from art galleries, ballrooms, and even a former post office, are transformed into beacons that lure the fashion followers in droves. I set up my camera outside the former post office, Moynihan Station, one sunny morning to capture what “those in the know” were wearing.
What you’ll see most in these photos is the underlining premise that fashion can be all over the place, as well as tried and true, and sometimes it can be both in one ensemble! For example, I’ve compiled all the black-and-white focused looks here in this post to illustrate the understanding that classic pairings look chic and stylish year after year.
Next time you’re at Goodwill, think about some of the images you’ve seen here and you’ll start to realize what you could add to your own closet. Now may be the perfect time for you to step up and step out a little bit more, just like our sidewalk models did in New York City! Check back each week to see what I’ve learned about style, and how YOU can utilize all the potential you have while supporting our mission!
