Recently I went to the premier of a new bridal collection by Amanda Jennings, the designer behind MinkMaids bridal fashion. The event was held at Zita Bridal Salon, a Milwaukee institution for leading trends in gowns and accessories for today’s bride. Also included in this wonderful event was bridal-accessory designer, Jackie Barutha of JAXIE. It was a pleasure to preview this amazing collection that was full of ideas I’ve honestly never seen before. A floral-print gown for a bride? Sure! Metallics and sequins? Yes! Headbands and tie-on bling belts for the gowns? Absolutely!
Please take a look at my photos in the slideshow below and you’ll see some great looks for both the high-end, or DIY bride alike!
Trends to spot:
- Gold metallic fabric
- White French sequin fabric
- Bias-cut gowns
- Floral patterns
- Headbands instead of a traditional veil
- Tie-on delicate belts
- Unique accessories
- Clean lines
- Non-traditional fabrics
- Sleek-versus-billowing gowns
- Statement necklaces and earrings
- Subtle sparkle
An important part in making your wedding day memorable is feeling great about the way you look! My favorite gown in this collection was the gold-metallic strapless dress with beaded detail draped on the arms. To me it felt like a cross between Taylor Swift chic, and Game of Thrones medieval shine. (Note how the belt ties on!) The bias-cut sequin gown was also a classical silhouette reminiscent of Jean Harlow and old Hollywood glamour. (Note the Grecian-like headband of leaves.)
Your wedding day is what you make of it, so now is the time to think outside of the bridal box with these stunning ideas!
