Plus size retailer Lane Bryant has partnered up with high-end designer Prabal Gurung to promote the inclusion of women of all shapes into the world of fashion. I saw this interview on CBS This Morning and found it to be quite a refreshing and eye-opening look into the subject. As someone who has navigated Fashion Week in NYC for over a decade, it’s about time we address a lot of the folks who don’t fit the fashion industries size 0 or 2 standards. You can check out the full interview here.
In the slideshow below this week you’ll find PR images from the Smart Glamour runway show. As stated on their website; “SmartGlamour is an affordable, fashionable, and customizable ethical clothing line for people of all shapes, sizes, heights, ages, identities, and styles. We make plus size clothing, straight size clothing, petite clothing, tall clothing, and everything in between and beyond. Every design is available in XXS to 6X and beyond. Any and every item can be customized to fit any and every body. And everything is made in NYC with love – just for you.” Check out their looks for spring here.
Trends are on the minds of the folks at Smart Glamour. So the looks they are showing include, short shorts, rompers, off-the-shoulder and tube tops, bold prints, color blocking, and tastefully placed cutouts. You may also note the curve hugging fit of the clothing as well. Long gone are the days of wearing loose, ill-fitting garments if you’re over a size 16!
True beauty comes from self-confidence, and Goodwill is a great place to find clothing of all sizes at a price that allows for experimentation. So take some inspiration from this post, and make sure to stop by one of our Goodwill Store & Donation Centers near you. Like we always say, you never know what you’ll find but it just could be something amazing!
