Cool and Colorful!

Cool and colorful

Fashion ideas come from many different places, don’t they? A magazine, something we see on television or online, and for me they often come from the numerous fashion shows I’ve attended over the years. One of my favorite designers is Custo Barcelona, whose point of view in fashion is all about color as well as happy feel-good energy! This week I want to share with you some photographs I snapped for his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. One of the reasons I like to show collections from past years is to illustrate the idea that fashion doesn’t change overnight—instead it can change in slow increments over a period of time. When you take a gander at the slideshow below you’ll notice many trends are still viable, and many more that could be what’s happening right now!

Trends to spot here:

  • Sheer fabrics
  • Pieced textiles
  • Textural elements
  • Oversized sunglasses
  • Whimsical accessories
  • Color, color, color
  • Layering pieces
  • Print mixing
  • Graphic prints
  • Platform and wedge shoes
  • Daytime sparkle
  • Bright and colorful for men
  • Sleeveless coats
  • Lace
  • Bohemian

When you’re in the mood to take your everyday style to the next level you really can’t do any better than shopping at Goodwill. With the well-organized racks that separate items according to size, color and type of garment, it’s easy to spot things that stand out to your discerning eye. People often ask if I look at every single item on the racks and I always answer “no.” I let my eyes (instead of my hands) tell me when to stop and look at something I find interesting. Try it sometime! You might just be surprised by what you’re able to “see” and fit to your style!
