A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of covering the Nick Graham Spring and Summer Collection for 2018 during Men’s New York Fashion Week. I went backstage, and you’ll see from my photos in the slideshow below, that it’s not just the ladies who get primped before a runway show! You might not know his name, but Nick Graham is the founder of the Joe Boxer brand of underwear for men. He then established his eponymous menswear brand in 2014. The company produces menswear for what Graham calls the “Perennial Millennial,” which he defines as men who do not represent a particular age or income level, but rather those who are looking for updated alternatives to the traditional menswear offering.
For this collection, the theme was the underwater world of Atlantis which inspired the color choices, as well as the tongue-in-cheek “accessorizing” of the models with faux lobsters, crab, and kelp, and nautical rope belts. The models smiled as they strode down the catwalk barefoot, which was really cool.
Nick Graham is a mix of tradition, attitude and pure fun, taking menswear just a little further stylistically than where it’s been.
If you’d like to take it to the next level with your own summer fashion, you can adapt this trend early by shopping one of our Goodwill stores in your area. I went in to find items for our recent Amazing Looks photo shoot and came out with four pairs of casual cotton pants in hues not unlike the collection below. Color can be scary for guys, but when worn in conjunction with other more traditional pieces, it's easy! These pants were $4.99 - $5.99, and a bargain at that! Try pairing with a button down shirt, tie and dress shoes and you’ll be colorfully in style too!
