Conjure Up Halloween Savings with Goodwill!

rack tags.fwWhenever a sentence starts with “when I was a kid we…” you know you’re getting a little older.  But truthfully, not so many years ago, much of the fun of Halloween was in helping to put together your own special costume, wasn’t it?  Of course, even back in the “good old days” there were store bought costumes versus homemade costume debates all the time. What I remember was how fun it was to poke around in grandma’s attic, or at rummage sales my mom went to throughout the year, to pick and choose pieces that I could craft my Halloween vision with. Now, there are a lot of ways to get your Halloween party on, but Goodwill is the undisputed headquarters when it comes to creativity as well as economy. Whether you’re in the mood for a costume that’s frightening and scary, outrageous and funny, or movie star in the making, our stores literally have all the things you’ll need. With the variety of items available putting together a distinctive Halloween costume is easy, and our prices won’t leave you screaming in terror!

marilyn monroeAt our Goodwill retail stores, we’ve taken some of the fuss out of discovering the costume of your dreams by creating a “pop-up” Halloween store within the stores themselves. It won’t be hard to find!  We’ve marked all the racks large and small, with orange tags that identify the type of costumes that you might be able to make from the items placed there. Our categories include Military, Superheroes, Girls Costumes, Boys Costumes, Era Costumes (those that represent specific time periods), Women’s Costumes, Men’s Costumes, Fantasy, Western Wear, Movie-TV-Celebrity, and much more. With these subtle Halloween helpers, it should be easy to get some ideas for a great disguise!

pirateSpooktacular is the only way to describe all the accessories we’ve sought out (including brand new items) to compliment the other costume pieces we have for sale at our stores. Wigs for men and women, hats, mustaches, and even monster and character make up kits are all available at a reasonable price to make Goodwill your one-stop Halloween destination!

Here’s a simple costume idea for the Goodwill fashionista, and I know there are a lot of you out there. Go to Goodwill and buy yourself a fantastic outfit head to toe, not a costume but clothing you’d wear in real life. On a piece of matte photo paper print the following, “Blouse - $1.99, Skirt - $3.99, Shoes - $6.99, Earrings - $1.99, Supporting Goodwill’s Mission - PRICELESS! Attach the paper to your front or back with safety pins or tape or carry it with you. The words and items I used are just a suggestion; you could do this any way you like. But I LOVE this for those of us who don’t want to do a wacky costume, but want to get in the spirit of fun anyway.

female vampireThere’s nothing frightening about saving money on your Halloween needs at Goodwill. So have fun, get creative, eat some candy, and have some laughs.  Just remember this; there’s no trick to helping others, because your purchases at Goodwill treat those less fortunate by supporting our mission. From all of us at Goodwill, have a safe and Happy Halloween!
