Pastels that have just a hint of color have always signaled spring, summer, and sophistication when it comes to formal occasions. With June in full swing, the brides, bridesmaids, and attendees of weddings and events across the country are looking for unique and modern ways to dress for the warmer season ahead. Designer Nina Skarra of Norway, isn’t necessarily a bridal designer, but when I saw this collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week S/S 2013, I couldn’t help but think of the subtle glamour of old Hollywood, as well as how well-suited her pieces would be for a formal summer affair! The icy tones of barely there white, mauve, ivory, and ice blue make a statement on their own, but the cut of the clothing and a few of the over the top feminine pieces really spoke to her approach to creative design. Check out the slideshow below, with photographs taken by my oh-so-stylish friend Bree Rose. The fact that the presentation was held in a beautifully lit atrium didn’t hurt either!

Somehow the movie star Grace Kelly came to mind while reviewing these stunning photographs. Elegance is a word that should be applied to many of the pieces, and the elements of construction only add to that type of appeal. When shopping at Goodwill, you should always keep in mind occasions that would require specific pieces like the ones you’ve seen here. A few great tailored pieces will allow you to look like a million bucks, but supporting our mission is priceless!
