Annisa - Borrowed From the Boys

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Jan 1, 2013 12:01:00 AM

Annisa is on the menswear inspired bandwagon with this two-piece look that could be described as “borrowed from the boys!” When doing the fittings for the photo’s I discovered this Anne Klein II pants suit on the racks of the store, and thought she could bring the requisite attitude to the look. Annisa is a teenage fashionista that really knows how to pull her style together! I suggested we layer on the necklaces, one from the Retique, one from Annisa herself, and one from Pam, a member of the Goodwill marketing department. Instead of a traditional blouse, we went with a gold infused scarf to soften the hard lines of the suit. We also added some gold pumps with rose detailing from Bertini, and a pair of my sunglasses. A cool pulled-together look that could be a fun for an evening out at the school dance or wherever she wants to take it!  Look at Goodwill for menswear inspired suits and blazers for your own take on this popular look.

Devion - Taming the Wild Sweater

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Jan 1, 2013 12:00:00 AM

Devion is a guy with a lot of charm and charisma. And, he also knows a thing or two about fashion himself! When I spied this Saxony sweater with teal-green leather details, I was reminded of Cliff Huxtable from the Cosby Show. But, only in a good way of course! How do you tame a wild sweater like this? You pair it with some jeans. In this case some H.I.S. white jeans, which by the way can be worn year round. The days of “no white after Labor Day” are long behind us. As long as the fabric is weather appropriate, in this case heavy denim, why not wear it year round? He added some of his own cool accessories like an Adidas watch and some Lacoste navy and white sneakers that really put a fashionable spin on these sporty pieces. Like I always say, relatable pieces are what makes for great style statements!

Matt - Timeless Panache

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Dec 1, 2012 12:00:00 AM

Matt is also going for timeless panache for his party attire! Layering menswear pieces is the way to get a unique and stylish look for any guy. Here we have a pale-green button down dress shirt set off with a blue floral tie as our anchor. By adding a gray pinstriped vest, and gray, black and tan plaid dress slacks, we ground the lighter colors. Remember that tones can be complementary but not necessarily matching like our vest and slacks, proving once again that you should always mix and match different pieces from your wardrobe. This will create an aura of richness for the outfit. Topping it all off is a fantastic taupe/putty-colored trench coat, which can be thought of as a year round option for the discerning gentleman on the town. Matt’s own favorite shoes complete the look. Classic, elegant, and masculine are the key words here for the guy who wants some style this holiday season!

Anna - Taking Glamour to New Heights

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Dec 1, 2012 12:00:00 AM
Anna is taking evening glamour to new heights this holiday season featuring some of the top trends in fashion right now. Nothing is more dramatic, yet tasteful than a one-shouldered gown. The blue glitter on black fabric dress is made of cracked ice material that is lightweight and flowing. To add dimension and more glamour we’ve pinned an oversize starburst brooch in green and cream to the shoulder. Brooches and pins are a quick way to infuse sparkle and shine on any outfit. More accessories that keep the movie star feeling going include: drop rhinestone dangle earrings, three gold bangles, one black bangle, black strappy heels, and a silver beaded formal handbag. Looking like a million bucks doesn’t have to break the bank, as we prove this month with this dazzling ensemble!

Mary Ellen - Evening Glamour

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Nov 1, 2012 9:31:00 AM

On our model Mary Ellen we’ve gone all out with the glamour in a dressy look that would be perfect for any evening out or upscale party! We started with a Jessica Howard belted dress that is figure flattering in a rich brown. With a tailored piece like this, it’s easy to accessorize.  So we added a pearl necklace, some interesting bracelets, and pretty pearl and gold earrings.  In addition we went for the gold with the BCBG Girls heels also in trendy metallic.  Before she leaves for her event, she checks the contents of her Etienne Aigner handbag in brown, tan and tweed, slips on her Jones New York faux fur mink coat, and tops off her ultra sophisticated look with some movie star sunglasses. All in all, a million dollar outfit for just pennies on the dollar!

Devion - Layering for Fall & Winter

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Nov 1, 2012 9:25:00 AM

Devion demonstrates the very best of layering for fall and winter fashion.  We started with a pair of great jeans from Zara Men, and then started adding on.  His own black hiking boots gave us the idea for some urban flair with the rest of the look.  A long sleeved white t-shirt forms a base for the colorful H&M striped sweater on top.  Color blocking like this is a great way to infuse color and pattern into a simple jeans ensemble.  Topping it off is a classic black trench in a car coat length.  The one here is from Chaps and really keeps the look clean and impeccably stylish.  Here we’ve added a belt, and that always makes any outfit seem a little more tailored and well thought out.  This is a great ensemble that would be suitable for any casual occasion where a guy wants to stand out in a good way!

James - Casual Collegiate Look

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Oct 1, 2012 8:15:00 AM

James takes it easy in a casual update of the collegiate look. The centerpiece here is the vintage Brooks Brothers jacket, which can be worn with many things including a button down shirt, and khakis for a more classic take. Here we’ve gone more “skateboard style” with a vintage t-shirt, Zara black denim jeans, EZ Rider blue suede tennis shoes and our models own studded leather belt with wallet chain. The jacket really takes all the elements and pulls them together.  That proves my point that all you really need for a great outfit is one spectacular piece to start!
