Luke - Head of the Style Class

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Aug 1, 2017 12:00:00 AM

Luke takes the back-to-school cool vibe to the head of the class with this layered, stylish look. The colorful plaid shirt started us off (Coogi brand $2.99) paired with Gap Kids denim pants that were $4.99. A basic look on its own, but we added a gray vest ($2.99) and a kid-sized black blazer ($4.99) to take it to a more fashionable place. We incorporated Luke’s own tennis shoes, because what don’t tennis shoes go with? Now it feels trendy but fun! All the elements are items that totally work together or separately, and that is why Goodwill is a great resource for your children’s clothing! Lots of choices are what you want to have on hand for your kids as they navigate their way to being teachers' pet in style!

Winnie - Rock-n-Roll Fun

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Aug 1, 2017 12:00:00 AM

Winnie is a fashion girl, who illustrates here the juxtaposition of feminine and flirty with rock and roll fun. An easy-breezy dress is great for the gal on the go at school, and the Beauties brand dress in black-and-white with pink straps is perfect and a real bargain at $2.99. Another amazing find was the Beauties brand embellished denim vest that was also $2.99, and worked perfectly for the look we were going for. This vest could also be worn all season long with other items from her wardrobe. A fun accessory is the blue wrap wristwatch ($1.99) because being on time is a crucial lesson to learn. As always, kids love their tennis shoes so we just used the ones Winnie brought with her to the photo shoot! Like I always say, tennis shoes go with just about everything, and who doesn’t want to be cool in school?

Dale - Polished & Perfectly Casual

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Jun 1, 2017 12:00:00 AM

Dale has a perfectly casual, but polished summer look going here. You know we all love our t-shirts and this green, black and white striped cotton t-shirt dress ( $5.99) hits all the right vibes. It’s simple, comfortable and fashionable all at the same time. We topped it with one of the stalwarts of the easy summer wardrobe the denim jacket (Mossimo $5.99). This one has that faded acid washed look that gives it a breezy feel and is not too heavy for this time of year. How about adding some cool vintage shades ($1.49), bangle bracelets ($6.99) and some awesome metallic espadrilles from DV ($4.99). Whether she’s going to a picnic or just shopping around town Dale knows she looks good and even better feels good in this fun outfit!

Catherine - Taking Casual to New Fashion Heights

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on May 1, 2017 4:29:19 PM

Catherine was our model search winner last year–and she’s one exuberant lady, which shows through in our photos this month. We’ve taken casual and put it to new fashion heights here. As an avid Goodwill shopper, Catherine brought some of her own items to the photo shoot, such as these off-white capri pants and a simple white t-shirt. What I did was add the fashion with key pieces and accessories. This patterned cardigan made of lightweight cotton from Forever 21 is the perfect item to elevate the basic items we started with, plus at $4.99 it’s a great bargain! I also found some cool espadrille flats in a soft metallic silver by DV that were just $4.99. The look is still casual but stylish, right? The enormous brown faux-tortoiseshell cuff, bronze earrings and beaded necklace just layer on the charm as well. She is ready for a special day of shopping, or a fun summer festival in this amazing look!

Rose - Bright and Fun

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on May 1, 2017 4:21:04 PM

Rose was also one of our model search runner-ups last year, and she had already purchased this fun dress on one of her Goodwill shopping excursions. It’s bright and fun just like she is! This multi-color statement print dress by Nina Leonard was just $5.99! I couldn’t resist adding lots of fun accessories like the faux-fur vest in cream that was $15.99, and the fabulous maroon hat I found for $2.99. To literally elevate the petite model, we added the platform wedge clogs from Mossimo in black, which were $6.99. Accessories such as the skinny blue belt ($1.99), tassel necklace ($6.99) and bracelets for $1.99 each add just a little more movement to this crazy quilt of fashion. Rose not only pulled off this look but she owns it!

Emily - Print Perfect

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Apr 1, 2017 12:00:00 AM

Our model Emily is print perfect in this beautiful dress from Mossimo that was just $6.99! It’s important to recognize a print that will work for you and this one covers all the bases. It’s not too colorful, but it is bold enough to stand out in a crowd. Dresses are always a great buy at Goodwill for the business woman, as well as the gal that likes to glam-up for special occasions. When Emily came to our photo shoot with some wardrobe pieces, I loved her ¾-length coat in white. It’s always great to have structured items like this that pair easily with dresses or separates. This coat and dress combo is fashion magazine worthy in my humble opinion. We did some flower earrings and a black pendant necklace that were a bargain at $1.49 and $1.99, as they added polish, but didn’t vie for attention with the rest of the look. Classic nude pumps like these by Bamboo ($6.99) should be a staple in any style-conscious woman’s closet. Emily is literally a breath of fresh fashion air.

IJ - Cool Factor

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Apr 1, 2017 12:00:00 AM

IJ is ready for spring after a dull winter, and it doesn’t get more fun and casual than a great jeans outfit. Goodwill is a great place for jeans–and the ones you see here are no exception! These all-cotton DKNY jeans were just $4.99 and I couldn’t resist pairing them with the clever Darth Vader in roller skates t-shirt from Star Wars that was $3.99. If those prices don’t make you happy and excited for warm-weather shenanigans I don’t know what will! We topped it off with a thin cotton cardigan in gray-and-green from BDG for $4.99. These types of cardigans are great casual layering pieces for men and women alike. For accessories we went with the classic black watch and sunglasses from Merona that were $6.99 and $4.99, respectively. Since our model is already a man of style we used his Chuck Taylor by Converse tennis shoes to elevate the cool factor of this look. His bright smile says it all!

Jason - Eye for Style

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Mar 2, 2017 2:56:50 PM

Jason is all about workplace dressing with an eye for style. As our model search winner last year, he represents all that Goodwill can offer a guy who wants to step up his fashion game at the office. Menswear shopping at Goodwill could easily start with a designer-quality dress shirt like this lavender and white-striped Chaps brand going for just $5.99. It really sets off the basic black dress pants that he already had in his closet (like most guys do). We contrasted the button down shirt with a vintage neck tie from designer Valentino ($2.99) and some black dress shoes from Kenneth Cole Reaction that he had purchased himself at his local Goodwill for $5.99. This guy looks like a million bucks, and honestly, most memorable people dress well. The added bonus for men is our low prices for quality items. Jason looks ready for that promotion now!

Charley - Spring Style

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Mar 2, 2017 2:43:12 PM

Charley shows us what a fresh spring could look like! Goodwill is a great place to go for kids’ clothing at reasonable prices! Aqua was our theme here as we combined quite a few items featuring that hue. Kids love clothes that are fun and easy to wear, don’t they? So choosing a colorful pair of jean leggings like these from So brand ($3.99), a super cool long sleeved striped t-shirt also from So brand ($2.99), and topping it off with an animal print hoodie from Children’s Place ($3.99), made pulling this look together a snap. Notice the way the sleeves can be worn as hand warmers too because they have a thumb hole in the cuffs! Charley had some basic black flats already so we went with those for this outfit. All in all she is a fashion-forward young lady with the color and pattern mixing complementing her unique and happy personality!

Maureen - Dressed for Success

Posted by Jamie Klinger-Krebs on Feb 1, 2017 12:00:00 AM

Maureen shows us this month that looking rich, doesn’t have to cost a lot when you shop for quality items at Goodwill! We went for a monochromatic, metallic look here and it’s all about the details. A great dress can lay the groundwork for a great outfit. This little black dress from BG’s was just $5.99, and the cool leggings by Simon Chang were $4.99. Note the design embellishment on the leggings! You can’t top it all off any better than with this jacquard coat in a metallic pewter/gold from Newport News at $8.99. To make it even more stylish we layered on jewelry and accessories that ranged in price from $2.99-to-$4.99. Right on trend this season are her Carmen Marc Valvo booties that were an unbelievable deal for just $12.99! Maureen is runway ready with this look (at a mere fraction of the cost of retail) while proving that dressing well is a thought process NOT a price tag!
