Jack gets the winter look just right in this well-put together ensemble! Looking for outerwear at Goodwill is a great way to multiply your cold weather stockpile of fashions! Jack went shopping shortly before our photo shoot and was thrilled to find this MAIZE/NY quilted down coat for just $14.99. This kind of coat is both lightweight and cozy and perfect for when the seasonal winds blow. This coat has an upscale look thanks to the zipper elements and quilting design. I added in some tan skinny chinos from H&M that were $4.99 at Goodwill, and a vintage ski sweater from former Milwaukee and nationwide retailer, GIMBELS that I also found at Goodwill for $6.99. TIP: Knowing vintage brands always helps you find amazing items at our stores! Jack brought along his own Timberland boots which complimented the style vibes of this awesome outfit perfectly. Goodwill comes to the rescue again for affordable and fun winter choices for every member of the family!

Vera goes dramatic and monochromatic in this classy, dressed up look. If you read my Amazing Looks descriptions each month, you’ll see that here we did exactly what I always preach—make sure to always check out the coats and dresses first when you’re shopping at Goodwill. Why? Because a great coat or dress usually holds up well, and this is definitely the case with what Vera is wearing here. In fact, Vera herself found this beautiful black wool with fur trim coat from Alorna/NY at a Goodwill store near her home in Illinois. So, all I had to do was pair it with a beautiful Ralph Lauren dress I found at Goodwill for $9.99. The shoes were also from Goodwill (also found by Vera). This is definitely a perfect picture of elegance, style, and sophistication all in one outfit! Bravo for this kick-off to a new and more fashionable year ahead.
Sam is ready for a stylish winter in this incredible coat that was $9.99 at Goodwill. When I see an amazing coat like this at Goodwill, I always snap it up. When I shop at our stores, I always look at coats, dresses and blazers first. Why? Because a well-made coat, dress or blazer will stand out amongst all the other pieces. Once again, this coat has the hallmarks of fashion, elegant silhouette and fantastic details. With winter being a long affair here in the Midwest, having a wardrobe of coats and jackets is par for the course. Every stylish man or woman should have both casual and more special coats like this one in their wardrobe. Sam is wearing this statement coat with a leopard handbag I found for $7.99, and her own dress and shoes in basic black complete the ensemble. Sam looks just like a movie star now doesn’t she? You can too by shopping for a new-to-you coat at your local Goodwill!
Emily is ready for holiday parties in this awesome dress I found for $5.99! I always say that one great dress is all you need to make an entrance, and in this dress, Emily is no exception! When it comes to shopping for dresses at Goodwill, I look for quality and details. This dress is actually one piece! It has such a genius design and is very flattering to our model. It was a nice quality stretch knit fabric and very well made. The black embellished shoes by Vera Wang were priced at $6.99. The sunglasses are from my collection and are worn by BOTH models this month! Our hairdresser, Kitty on set from Impressions salon also gave her a cool party-look pompadour and it works perfectly with this statement dress!
Charmaine is the perfect illustration of my adage that all you need is “one great dress”. In this case, she’s wearing a classic shirtwaist dress in a small leopard print that buttons down the front. This Ralph Lauren designer dress was just $6.99 at my local Goodwill store. Don’t shy away from leopard prints! Just make sure the print looks rich in color and not cheap. A structured piece in leopard, such as a jacket or jeans, always works to create a stylish look. We simply added a wide belt in a soft brown, gold earrings, and a necklace from her own wardrobe. Beige Bandolino pumps were found by our model at Goodwill for $6.99—they coordinate but don’t dominate the leopard print. The brown leather designer purse was $14.99. Fashionable and professional is what I’d call this look!
Happy Pride Month! In this Amazing Look from Goodwill, Helena borrows a few things from the boys to round out the perfect outfit that displays her creative personality and unique sense of style. To start the look, Helena is wearing a pair of floral-print skinny jeans by designer Madewell that were just $4.99 at Goodwill. Then, to play with a fantastic menswear look, we used a light blue button-down dress shirt, a black necktie, and Chuck Taylor shoes from Helena's wardrobe. To top it all off, we added a Mossimo blazer with faux leather insets ($5.99) and some attitude glasses in a burnt gold ($2.99). Ladies, don't forget to take a look through the menswear department at Goodwill the next time you’re there and elevate your own style!
Jennifer is doing denim—but not the usual jeans look. This is a great fitting denim dress with shirtwaist detailing, like the patch pockets and snap closures down the front. She bought this on one of her frequent trips to Goodwill for just $6.99. A denim piece that’s special, like this one, is a must-have for fall and winter layering. Speaking of layering, I added a cropped BCBG tweed coat with elbow patches that work quite well with the dress, it was $12.99. Bringing some color in is easy with a silk scarf that I found for $1.99, her own earrings add some sparkle and shine, and the ever-popular booties were just $6.99 at one of our well-organized stores. Look for special items like these to spice up your fall wardrobe, and if she added some tights and a heavier coat or sweater she’d be ready for the winter to come! Stylish and on-trend is what I would call this look. Jennifer really sparkles, doesn't she?
TJ is an aspiring actor and likes to have fun with what he wears. So, I went for a graphic t-shirt from Hanes for $2.99 with Mickey Mouse on it! As a student, TJ needs clothes that go the distance, and you can’t do better than some cool cargo pants—like these in a dark gray that I found for $2.99. They’re a great alternative to always wearing jeans. Topping it off is a super cool bomber-style jacket from Cherokee ($4.99) that’s made of sweatshirt material and denim. A great coat is an awesome addition to any young man's wardrobe. Finishing off the look are some Vans that TJ bought for himself at Goodwill for $6.99. Casual looks can be fun and fashionable if you know how to pull it all together (as he does). Playful and fun clothing also matches his upbeat personality!
Sam rhymes with glam right? So here she is showing us how to do a retro look right. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times, finding a great dress is a key to having a successful wardrobe. I always look for unique details and styling when perusing the dress rack at my local Goodwill. I was familiar with the brand name “Stop Staring”, which is a company that designs vintage-looking dresses out of modern fabrics. This one was new with tags for just $7.99! It is primarily black with pink accents in the kick pleats, buttons and other details. This, combined with the styling of Impressions salon for a retro-looking hairdo, and we have a winning fashionable look on Sam. To keep it modern, we opted to use her own peep-toe booties. Wow, is the only word I can think of!
Isaiah looks fresh for the end of summer in this casually-fun outfit. Our models often bring items that they already have with them to the photo shoot, and these shorts are his own! Playing off the salmon color, I added a graphic t-shirt in gray-and-blue from Marvel Comics that was $3.99, and then I gave it a preppy spin with this pink-and-blue striped button down from designer Ralph Lauren priced at $6.99. The brown lace-ups are his own addition to this colorful and funky look. Remember, putting it all together is part of the joy of getting dressed and with Goodwill you can do it for a lot less!
