Winter 2015 Home Trends

Outside the snow is (hopefully) falling, and inside, friends and family are gathering! Rather than dreading the cold months ahead, let’s take some time to embrace the approaching colors and textures with these home décor trends: rose gold accessories, midnight blue hues, vintage and unique candles.

Rose Gold AccessoriesRose Gold Accessories

Why they made the list

First rose gold took over fashion accessories. Now, the home décor world is on board too. We can’t get enough of it! We love this pretty metallic for its warm personality. And with it growing in popularity, you’ll find rose gold in a variety of places!

Pull it off

The kitchen/dining room and the bedroom are our two favorite spots to incorporate rose gold accessories. The shiny hue is silky, warm and romantic, so it lends well to these spaces. For the dining room, add a punch of rose gold bar accessories or hurricane lamps for a chic vibe. In the bedroom, bring in rose gold votives and lamp bases!

Midnight Blue HuesMidnight Blue Hues

Why they made the list

It’s the sophistication of black, mixed with the intrigue of gray and blue; midnight blue hues are silky and stunning.

Pull it off

Don’t be intimidated by this deep hue. Midnight blue is easy to pull off and lends well to a variety of spaces. And, it looks awesome when paired with rose gold – bonus if you pull off our first home décor trend! We are obsessed with midnight blue walls, especially in places you’d least expect it, like a dining room or entryway. If the thought of painting is scaring you away, look for a large, deep blue area rug; this is a great way to add that splash of sophistication!

Vintage DecorVintage

Why it made the list

Goodwill and vintage go together likes milk and cookies! This is such a great way to add character to your space – you can add pieces you’ve collected over the years, as well as those you’ve found at Goodwill. We love that every vintage piece has a story.

Pull it off

This season, let the story live on by incorporating vintage maps, trunks/suitcases and antique knickknacks into your home décor. We know just the place to go for those vintage items too!

Unique CandlesUnique Candles

Why they made the list

Lighting is such a huge part of the holidays, whether it is Christmas tree lights, the glow from the fireplace or cinnamon-scented candles on the mantle. Candlelight is warm and inviting, exactly what homes need this time of year. The standard votive candle can now be found in all forms, from birch branches to unique metallic shapes. There’s a design for every personality!

Pull it off

The best way to pull off the addition of unique candles to your home, is to work off of the style and feel your space already has. Unless, of course, you find a fabulous candle that is a must-have, you shouldn’t have to make the rest of your space work around it; it should look like it was there all along! If you have a rustic or beach-like space, add wooden hurricanes to keep with the theme. More modern? Look for unique metal or geometric-shape candles to keep with that crisp, simple look.
