Summer 2015 Clothing Trends

The warm weather has been teasing us all throughout spring, and this is definitely reflected in summer’s trends. As the sun heats up, our closets are welcoming lightweight fabrics and hints of skin! We love this season’s trends, because they each have their own personality yet they work well together too. Pack away the heavy clothing that’s overwhelming your closet, and make room for wedge espadrilles, neoprene, high-waist shorts and cut-out dresses!

Wedge EspadrillesWedge Espadrilles

Why they made the list: Whether worn casual or dressy, we can’t get enough of this summer staple! We love the variety of height, color and texture you’ll see with this elevated shoe; whether you like patterned shoes, or solid bright hues, there’s an espadrille for you.

Pull it off: The key to the summer espadrille trend is height! Look for a pair with wedge heels. Not only are they a more comfortable style of heel, they also lengthen your legs. Pair yours with any summer outfit – we mean ANY! They look great with skinny jeans, summer dresses, shorts and everything in between.

Neoprene

Neoprene Fabric

Why it made the list: Think scuba gear; not the look, just the fabric. Neoprene is popping up in a variety of pieces, from skirts and dresses, to handbags and tops. We love the flirty vibe this easy-breezy fabric has. You’ll surely love the endless color options too!

Pull it off: Neoprene is fabulously lightweight, so it’s perfect for summer wear. While we love that it is structured, but this also lends it to require a specific way of be styled. Pair a neoprene skirt with a simple, less structured sweater or top. Full neoprene dresses are also a great route to go; all you need to do is add your simplified accessories!

High Waist Shorts

High-waist Shorts

Why they made the list: While some fashion statements may lay-low for a few years, they always come back at some point. Case and point; high-waist shorts. They scream festivals (a summer must), and we love the length they add to our legs!

Pull it off: Because you’re showing a bit more leg with high-waist shorts, you want to keep your top half decently covered. Even though the “vintage” style was high-waist shorts paired with a crop top, less is always more. Pair your shorts with a fun patterned blouse, and always be sure to tuck the top into the shorts, as the high waist is the key feature!

Cut outs summer

Cut-out Dresses

Why they made the list: That hint us skin gives us shape, attitude and confidence, while still looking feminine. What more could you want in a summer dress?

Pull it off: Just as we said with the high-waist shorts, less is more. The key to pulling off a cut-out dress is to give just the right amount of skin. Look for a lightweight dress that isn’t body hugging – A-lines will help with this. You’ll want that hint of skin to come from wide slits near the waist area, or from a large key-hole in the back of the dress. Keep your accessories casual and minimal; let the cut-outs do the talking!
