Spring 2015 Clothing Trends

Spring’s forecast calls for color and details! This season, the key to standing out is contrasting your colors and adding a little something special to each look.  We can’t wait for warm spring temperatures to stay, so we can see more bright stripes, two-tone oxfords, shiny and sheer looks and leather details.

Spring Trends - stripesBright Stripes:

Why they made the list

There’s no denying it; stripes are sleek! They don’t subtly blend the way a paisley or floral pattern would – they stand out. It’s just what we want this time of year, too. We love this season’s stripes, because they’re bright, bold and big! Your wardrobe will feel playful and vibrant when you ‘strut your stuff’ in bright stripes.

Pull it off

Don’t be afraid of stripes! They CAN be figure flattering; the key is to finding the right angle of stripe for your body type.  If you are more narrow on top and wider on the bottom (pear shape), look for a thinner diagonal stripe blouse, to wear with a plain pant. This draws the focus upward. Want to flaunt some curve? Look for an A-line skirt with thick horizontal stripes, for a fun and flirty look! Trying to add length? Vertical stripes are the way to go. If you’re still worried about stripes on your figure, look for accessories, such as a scarf with a bold striped pattern.

two-tone oxfordsTwo–tone Oxfords:

Why they made the list

This trend is all about the color and contrast! Oxford style flats really took off when the menswear trend hit the runways, and this season’s take has added some fun color combinations. Regardless of color however, we love the overall polished look that oxfords have. Spring hues have simply given them a modern/updated twist!

The streets are getting a fun boost with oxfords featuring contrasting bright and dark hues. These two-tone shoes work great with both denim and work pants – ankle or skinny fit works best. The key to this trend is allowing your oxfords to do the talking (and the walking). Keep the rest of your outfit subtle, simple and free of contrasting patterns.

sheerShiny & Sheer:

Why it made the list

This trend is subtly daring, as it shows just a hint of skin in unexpected places while offering a bit of shine to boost your look. We love that you can find both shiny and sheer pieces for the entire wardrobe; from cap sleeves on shirts, to shiny polka-dots on skirts. This trend may be simple, but it definitely makes a fashionable statement.

While finding a wardrobe piece that has both shiny and sheer elements is a score, you don’t have to have both in one outfit to be rocking this trend. Blouses with sheer sleeves not only look great, but are also a perfect way to transition us into warmer temperatures. When it comes to adding that shine, subtle is the way to go for daytime looks. Try a patterned top that offers small details of shine. Adding too much will make your outfit look like you’re ready for a night on the town, rather than a day at the office. If you are going out for a night on the town however, feel free to shine it up!

leatherLeather Details:

Why they made the list

leatherThere’s just something about leather that gives any look a boost of confidence. We love seeing this rocker fabric on spring wardrobes, because of how unexpected it is. The theme of our favorite trends this season is subtly, and leather doesn’t fall too far from that; our favorite looks that pull off this trend have small accents of leather, and leather in subtle hues.

You may not think leather is for everyone, but it definitely can be! Look for spring items that have a small detail of leather such as shorts with leather pockets and skirts with leather waists. If you’re working with leather in a spring hue, you can get away with a little less subtly. Look for a leather jacket, skirt or handbag in leather. But remember; keep your look feeling like spring with neutral and pastel leather tones. Anything bolder may take away from the softness of the springtime trend.
