Fall 2016 Clothing Trends

Ah fall; cozy sweaters, apple cider, logs in the fireplace and the smell of burning leaves – we love everything about this season! As the temperature begins to drop, it’s time to focus on transitioning our wardrobe for the chilly weather ahead. Lucky for you, Goodwill has you covered with ruffles, classic tan, shearling jackets and turtlenecks over dresses!

RufflesRuffles

Why they made the list:

We can’t get enough of ruffle trimmed dresses and cardigans this season! They’re fun and feisty, yet you’ll find that they can easily lend themselves into any wardrobe, no matter the wearer’s taste.

Pull them off:

The fun thing about ruffles is that you can find them for both flirty and fierce styles. Look for ruffle details on a pastel dress for a more feminine outfit. Or, add leather ruffles to the hem on a black tunic for a fun, tough spin on the trend. Pair both looks with boots and leggings to make them last throughout fall.

Classic TanClassic Tan

Why it made the list:

There’s something easy, casual and rustic about classic tan shades. It’s just what our autumn wardrobe needs when the leaves begin to fall and the crisp breeze rolls in.

Pull it off:

Roll classic tan shades into your wardrobe easily, through accessories! We love the look of classic tan leather ankle boots. Don them over black leggings, a tunic and a shearling jacket (also a 2016 Fall Trend!) for a head-to-toe, chic fall look!

Shearling JacketShearling Jackets

Why they made the list:

2016’s aviator-spin on this classic piece is a must-have for fall! Shearling isn’t new to the fashion world, or fall for that matter, but we just love the cozy, chic feel is adds to classic leather jackets!

Pull them off:

Shearling jackets look great paired with a dress, trousers or leggings – it’s definitely a versatile trend that way! For a modern feel, look for a black leather jacket with a shearling collar. The contrast in hues gives a really stylish touch. Going for a more rustic, fall look? Try for shearling on the collar of a brown or classic tan leather jacket. Pair either color jacket with your favorite fall dress, or leggings!

TTurtlenecks under Dressesurtlenecks under Dresses

Why they made the list:

Talk about transition piece! We love this new trend in fall dresses. Layering your dress over a turtleneck allows you to extend the life of your favorite summer cotton dress. Seasonal, and stylish!

Pull them off:

Layer your cotton short-sleeve dress over a complimentary turtleneck. The key is to keep stick to soft, subtle fabrics for both the dress and the turtleneck; you want them to complement one another, not contrast each other. Finish the look with knit tights, and boots!

Tip: Pull your look together by shopping the dress section at Goodwill. No matter the season, we always have a variety of dresses on hand!
